City of Basketball Love held its annual August underclassmen on Friday afternoon at Abington Friends, bringing in over 100 of the top rising freshmen and sophomores from across the Philly tri-state region. Several prospects made their presence felt but these wings and forwards from the Garden State were particular standouts in our viewing.

Wells may have been the most unstoppable force that we saw in the entire camp, using the full extent of his size and inside-out versatility to impose his will on any matchup that was thrown his way. More of a natural post, Wells took advantage of the up-and-down setting to show his continuously expanding game, working with a great deal of comfort off the dribble whether in the halfcourt or the open floor. He was consistently able to find space on the perimeter to show off his shooting stroke and had no issue doing damage inside when the situation called for it. Heading from Middletown South to RBC after a standout freshman year, Wells should be one of the more productive sophomores in the state with significant upside left to tap into as well.

Looking the part as much as any prospect in camp, Mitchell sticks out immediately with a rangy, wiry build and fluid athleticism. A current 2030 who will repeat 8th grade while moving to 2031, Mitchell thrived attacking the rim in whatever form he could, whether running out in transition, slashing through the lane in the halfcourt, or crashing the glass from an off-ball position. He showed effortless athleticism and impressive dexterity as a finisher inside. With bloodlines on his side and plenty of time left to develop, Mitchell appears to have significant long-term upside and should profile as one of the state's best as the 2031 class begins to take shape.

With an argument as the most skilled frontcourt player in camp, Duverglas made a strong first impression while showcasing a modern inside-out skillset offensively. The hybrid post was effective playing all over the floor, picking and popping for open jumpers, putting it on the deck past slower forwards to finish near the rim, and operating as a passing hub from the elbows while hitting open cutters or shooters. He's still a bit slow-twitch, as is the case with most young bigs, but Duverglas' overall skill level and feel should give him a chance to emerge as one of the state's top young frontcourt prospects in time.

Perhaps the most physically gifted prospect in the gym, Riddick put his tools to good use throughout the day while applying consistent pressure on both ends of the floor. He was effective attacking the rim in transition or ripping through from the perimeter, also showing a nose for the ball off cuts and while crashing the glass. Riddick was effective defensively using his size, strength, and quick feet to guard a variety of matchups and cover ground to rack up stocks while creating opportunities for transition offense. If he can meld the aggression with more of the nuanced skillset he flashed in the high school season, Riddick could prove to be one of the higher-upside long-term wings in the class.

Another incoming transfer for Red Bank Catholic, Alston looked ready to make an instant impact after a year on JV at nearby Christian Brothers Academy. A utility wing, Alston was at his best in transition, whether pushing it himself into a clean decision or running out ahead of the play for easy buckets. He showed himself to be a capable shooting threat off the catch, providing nice overall versatility to his game as a Swiss-army piece on the perimeter. He'll have a chance to be one of the breakout sophomores in the Shore Conference and should find himself on collegiate radars in due time.
