2029 Rankings Update: Top Newcomers

With the recent update to the Pennsylvania 2029 prospect rankings, a handful of newcomers saw their names included for the first time. Whether due to reclassifications, transferring from out of the area, or simply catching the eye of our staff for the first time, these were the top-ranked prospects to be added to the rankings since our last update.    A fixture in the 2028 rankings since setting foot in the high school ranks, Stevens has been one of the Catholic League's most productive underclassmen the past two years and now debuts in the top 10 of the 2029 rankings with his decision to reclass upon transferring to Haverford this coming fall. Stevens makes a jump up the rankings due to a combination of a weaker class across the state and real growth that he demonstrated over the course of the spring and summer. He's known for his feel, IQ, and versatility, which should be highlighted perfectly in Haverford's well-oiled offensive structure. As Stevens continues to reshape his body and learns to play his absolute hardest at all times, he could prove to have some real sneaky upside despite a lack of obvious athletic gifts.     Making the move south of the border from Canada, Kaniki was a comfortable choice to be included in the top 10 based on his play this June with Westtown, and could be a candidate to rise further as we see more once he settles in this school year. A big guard with a smooth stroke, he impressed in several spurts off the bench at DMV Live while also putting together a productive spring and summer on the 15U EYBL circuit with Canadian powerhouse UPlay. His shooting mechanics look to be pretty high-level and could prove to be his ticket toward significant D1 recruitment depending on what more he shows off the dribble in future viewings. For now, his blend of size and shooting give him a comfortably translatable skillset that should age nicely and give him plenty of runway to add more as time goes on.     Previously a part of the Maryland rankings in a similar range, Mota slides over to the PA side upon coming back home after a productive freshman year in the Baltimore Catholic League at John Carroll. A poised lead guard with a mature skillset, he'll look to run a Susquehanna Township team that has high hopes amid a combination of returning frontcourt talent and multiple transfers on the perimeter. Mota was understandably turnover-prone at times last year as a freshman but managed to make a consistent impact as the only freshman in the Patriots' varsity rotation. He'll face lesser competition on a nightly basis in the Mid-Penn but will be tasked with a bigger, more consistent role as a sophomore as a sophomore. His ability to answer the bell could go a long way toward determining the success of the Indians' season.     Relocating back to the area after time in Florida at nationally-regarded Riviera Prep, Robinson projects as a key part to the rebuild in progress at St. Joe's Prep. A versatile wing, he's an aggressive and athletic straight-line driver with a growing skillset out to the wing. He also shows effectiveness as a cutter or getting out in transition where he can use his physical tools to finish above the rim. Robinson could make his biggest immediate impact on the defensive end, where he's a live body with the size to make an impact near the rim but quick enough feet to hold up on the perimeter. His growth as a shooter and in his overall feel will go a long way to determining his long-term upside as he establishes more of a presence locally moving forward.     A bit of a flier at this point slotting in just inside the top 60 in his rankings debut, Harris checks some intriguing long-term boxes despite lacking much of a resumé to this point. A lanky wing forward with upside to move out more fully to the perimeter over time, Harris saw minimal varsity action for the Saints as a freshman but showed promising flashes while catching our eye for the first time this summer on the 3SSB circuit. Harris has the type of size and fluidity that demand immediate attention at this stage while he continues to round out his game and show more with further opportunity in future evals.
