2028 Rankings Update: Meet the Newcomers

Our <a href="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/2028-rankings/" data-type="link" data-id="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/2028-rankings/">updated Virginia 2028 rankings</a> feature 35 new prospects who earned their way onto the board following the spring and summer. Here is a closer look at some of the newcomers making their debut in our updated rankings.    Walker starred for Team Loaded South throughout the grassroots season and makes the move to Petersburg High School for his junior year. The athletic, shifty guard is a high level shot maker and capable three level scorer who can consistently create and convert shots both off the catch and off the bounce. Walker plays with a high basketball IQ and has the skill and creativity to generate offense in a variety of ways. He averaged nearly 20 points per game during adidas play in July, establishing himself as one of the more productive scorers in the class.     Smith arrives at Oak Hill Academy from North Carolina and brings versatility and playmaking ability to the backcourt. He is comfortable playing either guard position and can impact the game as both a scorer and distributor. Smith is fast in the open floor and consistently puts pressure on the defense, using his quickness to get into the paint and finish creatively around the basket. He also brings good activity on the defensive end, giving him the ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.     McQueen makes the move to Bishop O'Connell for his junior season following an impressive summer. He is a talented, athletic combo guard with good positional size and strength who can create offense in a variety of ways. McQueen is a capable scorer who also has the vision and playmaking ability to create opportunities for teammates. He plays with a high basketball IQ and brings an intriguing combination of physical tools, skill and versatility to the backcourt.     The Georgia native reclassifies to the 2028 class upon his arrival at Massanutten Military Academy. Langston is an athletic wing with impressive positional size and length who is especially effective in transition, where he uses his physical tools to attack and finish around the basket. His perimeter skill set continues to improve, adding another dimension to his offensive game. Langston also brings value as a rebounder and defender, giving him an intriguing combination of athleticism, versatility and long term upside.     An addition to Bishop Ireton for the 2026-27 season, Walker is a high-level scorer and shot maker who can generate offense in a variety of ways. He has the ball skills to serve as a secondary ball handler and is a capable playmaker who can create opportunities for teammates. Walker plays with a high basketball IQ and does an excellent job reading defenders and using screens to create advantages. His combination of shot making, feel and offensive versatility make him one of the top prospects in the 2028 class.
