The University of Oregon held its team camp the final weekend of June, and as always teams from all over the state from all classifications arrived in Eugene ready to compete. We love attending the event every year as it gives us a chance to see some of the teams from Central and Southern Oregon that we don't normally see as often as those from the Portland metro area. Here's a look at some of the 6A teams that we watched and some quick notes on each of their rosters.

Grants Pass

The Cavemen will once again be led by rising senior Jordan Rosetta, who led the squad in both scoring and rebounding last season, with the latter category ranking one of the top marks in all of 6A. Very few teams will be able to match up with his unique combination of size and athleticism. Look for others such as Max Thompson and Branson Young to contribute for head coach Nate Olson.

McDaniel

The PIL beyond the first couple of teams looks wide open again and based on what we saw in Eugene, head coach Arron Boone will have a more balanced team offensively. Cam Davis and [player_tooltip player_id='2630148' first='Ameris' last='Bowie'] were big performers in a win over Creswell and the addition of rising senior transfer [player_tooltip player_id='2966811' first='Tre' last='Guyton'] from Centennial will be big as he has the ability to score in a hurry.

McMinnville

McMinnville returns two key players up front for head coach Tucker Coil - rising junior Xander Gurash and rising sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='3437991' first='Colby' last='Frank'] - and both were key contributors for the Grizzlies at UO Team Camp. They key for the Grizzlies in the Pacific Conference race will be who steps up in the backcourt.

Nelson

While some players have left Nelson the Hawks will still be good shape - especially in their backcourt with the return of [player_tooltip player_id='2026057' first='Braylon' last='Gaines'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2026060' first='Jaydon' last='Schregardus']. Despite not being 100 percent yet, Gaines was still dominant in Eugene and Schregardus remains extremely dangerous with his ability to drain threes. Additional long range shooting will also come from [player_tooltip player_id='2856202' first='Ashton' last='Cantwell'] who's had a big summer and look out for incoming freshman [player_tooltip player_id='3682314' first='JP' last='Sideris'].

North Salem

North Salem graduated many of its top contributors but head coach Hemingway Huynh's returnees and newcomers make them a potential sleeper in the Central Valley. Rising senior Moses Barnett is an athletic scorer and his younger brother rising sophomore Solomon Barnett is an absolute load in the paint.

South Medford

The Panthers had some graduation and transfer losses, but plenty of talent is back for head coach James Wightman. [player_tooltip player_id='2917299' first='Jorge' last='Pacheco'], one of the most underrated rising sophomores in state, can both score and pass, and returnees such as [player_tooltip player_id='2517071' first='Pearce' last='Atchley'], [player_tooltip player_id='2451611' first='Mason' last='Lupton'], and Johnny Clevenger can score in multiple ways.

Sprague

The backcourt is gone for the Olympians but head coach Tyler Lewis does have some size returning in rising senior [player_tooltip player_id='2428771' first='Lane' last='Isham'] and rising junior Landon Butler. Both played well in Eugene and the new guards were able to get some valuable experience at camp.

Westview

There's a lot of turnover at Westview but the number of guys coming back that will contribute allowed head coach Mike Wolf to split up the Wildcats into two squads. [player_tooltip player_id='2457815' first='Jackson' last='Welch'] is the most experienced veteran but a whole host of varsity newcomers including rising junior Brandon MacDonald and rising sophomores Braxton James, [player_tooltip player_id='2916649' first='Adit' last='Kulkarni'], and Kush Shanmugasundaram will get time.
