While we all know how important the summer is for upperclassmen, the younger names often fly under the radar despite this being such a crucial time in their development. These moments allow young prospects to gain valuable experience, continue growing their games, and build confidence against strong competition.

Let's take a look at a few names who shined in Kansas City over the weekend, have made noticeable strides this summer, and could be part of the next wave of talent emerging throughout the region.

[player_tooltip player_id='3665433' first='Isaiah' last='Vaughn'] | 6'5" Guard | [program_tooltip program_id='2078454' first='KC' last='Run GMC']

Isaiah is about as impressive as they come when talking about long, rangy young guards. Vaughn showed flashes of his perimeter shooting ability, consistently finding space, rising up, and knocking down shots at a high rate.

You can see the different elements he brings offensively, as he also showed the ability to play with his back to the basket and create position against smaller defenders. Isaiah has the makings of a true two guard if he continues to develop and refine his skill set.

The upside is tremendous, and he continues to prove he's one of the top prospects in the region for the 2030 class.

Lucas McCullough | 6'7" Forward | [program_tooltip program_id='2078454' first='KC' last='Run GMC']

One of the better young big prospects from the weekend, McCullough's size and skill took over for stretches, especially on the offensive end. A heady, cerebral player, he operates well in space and consistently creates advantages for his guards through a variety of actions. His ability to face up, attack off the bounce, get to two feet, and use his footwork and pivots to create separation was impressive.

Add in his ability to stretch the floor as a shooter, and it's easy to see the tremendous upside as Lucas continues to grow into his body and fill out. He's a name to monitor moving forward and has all the tools to become one of the faces of Kansas' 2030 class.

Justin Ibeawuchi | 6'5" Forward | [program_tooltip program_id='3625434' first='Family' last='First']

Ibeawuchi was another long, athletic forward who sparked runs by turning defense into offense. Athletic enough to move his feet on the perimeter while also protecting the rim, he proved to be a real weapon on the defensive end.

Offensively, he showed the ability to pull bigger defenders away from the basket and attack off the dribble, allowing him to get downhill, finish around the rim, and draw help defenders. He also displayed good vision and patience, consistently finding cutters as defenders collapsed on his drives.

Justin is still a raw 2029 prospect, but there's a lot of potential with the rising Missouri forward.

Jaimen Blackson | 6'4" Wing | Midwest Roots

Blackson has been a fast-emerging name this summer, and it only continued at the Sunflower Showcase. Jaimen pairs his size and strength with athleticism and explosiveness with the basketball, often leading to him getting downhill and finishing through contact at the rim.

He attacks with a suddenness that often catches primary defenders off guard, allowing him to create an advantage and consistently put pressure on the defense. He embraced the physicality around the basket and showed the ability to stay composed, finishing through defenders while also earning trips to the free-throw line.

Blackson should be included in the next wave of strong prospects coming out of Nebraska.

[player_tooltip player_id='3613593' first='Victor' last='Wilson'] | 6'4" Wing | [program_tooltip program_id='2078454' first='KC' last='Run GMC']

The most physical and aggressive 2030 prospect I saw this summer, Wilson continued to turn heads over the weekend with his combination of size and mobility. He blends strength, power, and fluidity, consistently impacting the game with a mix of blocked shots, steals, and relentless ball pressure.

Really solid in transition, he navigates the floor quickly, can explode above the rim, and shows a willingness to initiate contact and play through it. He's extremely active on both ends and plays with a natural motor that always seems to put him in the right place, allowing the basketball to find him.

The top 2030 name in Kansas still has plenty of room to grow, but he's shown to this point that he's building a strong foundation with the tools to continue developing.

While we all know how important the summer is for upperclassmen, the younger names often fly under the radar despite this being such a crucial time in their development. These moments allow young prospects to gain valuable experience, continue growing their games, and build confidence against strong competition.
