June 12-14 I attended the prestigious Section-7 located at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa and June 26-28 I attended the inaugural Nevada Live Invitational at the Las Vegas Basketball Center. They are two premier live periods for college coaches to evaluate the HS players to potentially receive offers.

We will go over multiple categories of the 112 players and move over to

S7/NLI Versatile Forwards

[player_tooltip player_id='2435389' first='Justin' last='Johnson'] Millennium (Pictured)

One of the top athletes in the AIA and honestly in the entire state. He flies on the break and is an elite rim runner playing way above the rim with some highlight reel dunks. He will rip thru and hit the catch three and he also defends nearly every position for the Tigers.

[player_tooltip player_id='3662711' first='Kash' last='McKinney'] Carl Hayden

A wing who works from the high post and will rip thru with a deceptively quick first step using his stronger frame. He rebounds well and can push it and get into the paint and find a cutter for a score. He will flash off the ball and go up quickly for the two and seems to always move without the ball to the open spot. He will steal the ball and take it the other end and dunk it.

[player_tooltip player_id='2947346' first='Giovanni' last='Nielsen'] Deer Valley

A long defensive wing is smart, skilled and plays both sides of the court. His natural length is hard to handle on defense and he moves well in space to slow down his opponents and checks many boxes with a motor, moving the ball, hitting jumpers, rebounding and scoring inside.

[player_tooltip player_id='2756822' first='Isaac' last='Hnat'] Saguaro

A forward who can play both spot up front and even slide over to the wing. He is a face-up type who comes with skill. He will hit the three and has a sneaky burst to the lane with a dribble drive to the basket. He rebounds well and will take charges.

[player_tooltip player_id='2550840' first='Austin' last='Turner'] Perry

A point forward is a true connector as a good passer who sees the court like a guard. He will defend multiple positions and uses his length, twitch and athleticism to rebound the ball at a high clip. He will score with perimeter jumpers and drives in the lane with and-1's.

[player_tooltip player_id='3457363' first='Jacob' last='Jensen'] Willow Canyon

Another point forward has a nice handle and plays unselfishly with making the extra pass. He gets downhill and will earn trips to the free throw line and he is hyper athletic on the break and will use plus body control in the lane to score. He rebounds well and will take the ball off the glass and push it.

[player_tooltip player_id='1873694' first='Tyrese' last='Holmes'] Brophy Prep

A defensive wing forward can cover a lot of ground on defense with his length, IQ and awareness on defense. He will score with threes off the catch, offensive rebound put backs and he can slash to the basket with a sneaky burst.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140875' first='Demarcus' last='Henry'] AZ Compass Prep

A versatile wing forward is one of the tougher covers in Arizona. He can play and defend nearly every position and is truly an incredible passer up the court and will often drive and kick. He can hit the three off the catch and he likes to rip thru and get to the basket. He rebounds at a very high rate and will block shots. He simply affects the game in many ways on both sides of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2370259' first='Terry' last='McKinney III'] Millennium

A small forward who is a great passer up the court and will score with rip thrus, alley-oop dunks and occasional perimeter jumpers. He makes his money with his motor and versatility with defending multiple positions and his high level rebounding.

[player_tooltip player_id='3142053' first='Jesse' last='Onuh'] Liberty

A potential 3 and D type is a sophomore who looks like he will get his chance on varsity this season. He can play and defend multiple positions and he runs the floor well. He scores it with threes off the catch, transition buckets and makes smart reads with the ball.
