I attended the PRO16 live period event during the first July live period weekend and in this article I'll break down my 2028-2030 standouts from Saturday's action.

Pratt had a college coach of his older brother's on hand to watch him on Saturday and he stood out as the rising junior guard had a big game defensively by pressuring the ball and using quick hands for steals. Offensively, Pratt dropped a defender with a nasty dribble combo that led to a bucket and hit jumpers when the defense went under ball screens against him. Looking like an easy stock riser from the weekend, WV Gold 16 U have impressed so far.

Asberry stood out as the northeast Ohio guard makes shots, plays on balance and didn't force the issue. I like how Asberry uses jump stops to get on balance before taking a pull-up jumper or kickout to a teammate. When Asberry gets ran off the line he's able to attack a closeout and swing the ball around the perimeter. One of the top shooting guards in Northeast Ohio, Asberry will be one to watch this winter with Euclid.

Playing up at the 17 U level, Brown impressed me with his length and ability to finish above the rim. Throwing down some monster dunks and finishing layups above the rim, Brown is somebody the cameras have to follow closely because he could get a highlight at any moment. Brown's team found success thanks to their ability to turn teams over with their full court pressure and this allowed Brown to get out in space where he could use his height and length to score.

Another big weekend for Howard who has continually improved his game over the past year. What I was maybe most impressed with Howard was his rebounding ability from the wing, Howard had multiple rebounds in traffic that he had no business coming down with in each game I watched of his team. Howard also blocked a handful of shots, showing his ability to contest at both the rim and on the perimeter. Howard's highlight play of the game came in transition where he rose up for a monster slam dunk. Stock rising prospect for Kentucky Basketball Club!

Christian Academy of Louisville had an excellent live period weekend with a handful of their players putting together strong performances. Alvey is an elite shooter who doesn't need much time or space to fire away and hit from long distance. In a back and forth contest that it looked like it had slipped away from Kentucky Basketball Club 16 U, Alvey knocked down two huge 3-pointers in the final three minutes of the game to take the win. When teams tried to go zone against this Kentucky Basketball Club group, Alvey was the one breaking the zone with 3-pointers. Elite shooter who is starting to figure out other ways to impact the game!

I got to see Cotton with Spire's international group last season but he returned to his home state of Michigan and earned a spot in the Michigan 2029 rankings. Cotton is an elite shooter who plays at his own pace on drives and isn't sped up off the dribble. I liked the DHO actions WV Gold 15 U ran for Cotton to get space to shoot or attack off the dribble. With the range Cotton has, he can take the handoff from a few feet behind the 3-point line and still knock down shots from long range. Disappointed I won't be seeing Cotton in Ohio anymore but he is set for a big Sophomore season in Michigan.

Team Inland 15 U looked impressive in a 8 AM victory as they had a handful of guys contribute to the win. I picked Jackson, a 2030 prospect playing up at the 15 U level. Jackson is a long and twitchy two guard who was impressive in the open court as he could play above the rim and extend to finish around rim contests. Add in the fact Jackson had a couple of defensive stocks (blocks + steals) in the game I caught and he projects as an intriguing two-way athletic wing guard who could easily make a leap as a shooter as his body continues to mature and he gets more reps. Always exciting seeing a prospect playing up a grade and still impacting winning for a quality team.

I attended the PRO16 live period event during the first July live period weekend and in this article I'll break down my 2028-2030 standouts from Saturday's action.
