@PrepHoopsTN MidTen Combine featured hard-working hoopers, aged 15-17 years old.  For the rest of the summer, we will be featuring the campers with evaluations and measurements from the day, June 7th, 2026. This was the first time the event took place inside Smyrna High School, and they graciously hosted to perfection.

Good at putting guys on his hip. Insanely strong. Defended 6-foot-11 Hunter Noel Hunter Noel Hunter Noel 7'0" | C Davidson Academy | 2027 State TN decently just by rooting him out with leverage. He projects as a combo guard after high school. Coachable. Jalen's power separated him from every single guard in the gym. He rarely, if ever, lost the ball thanks to his skill and strength combination. He could become more vocal as a leader. Perhaps he is with Springfield High, a team with which he is more familiar than the combine teams.

High-effort defender. In four-on-four Kyrick hit a diabolical step-back three-pointer in rythym. It was his hardest make of the 4v4 and yet not utterly unrealistic based on the entirety of his day. Wallace entered with a wonderful reputation and delivered. Wallace would benefit from some more heft and strength because he will meet some 6-foot-3+ guards in college. Can create his own shot. Wonderful Lane Agility (10.60 seconds).

Slick with either hand. Finished with gorgeous fluidity under the bucket with his off-hand. Pulled up for 3 comfortably in the 5v5 opening game. Wonderful lower body balance. Though he is guard-height he did not really make anyone on his team better. Despite his scoring prowess, Purnell must demonstrate he can be a team leader. Can he make other players better?

Gion Pernell Gion Pernell Gion Pernell 5'9" | PG/SG Rossview | 2029 TN | 5'8" SG | Rossview | 2029

How did he measure against the competition?

Camp Ranking -- #27

Gion cares a lot about basketball and put in the work during the combine. In order to elevate his game, the younger Pernell needs to refine his shooting motion and improve his speed. As a guard he needs to be able to defend and attack quick players. Of his times/measurements the 3/4-sprint was the most encouraging.

Improved finishing with either hand. Fantastic Lane Agility for a big! Hunter sped to 11.80 seconds after his initial traversing of 11.92 seconds. We always do two times to ensure legitimacy and avoid human timing errors. For frame of reference Jarrett Allen entered the NBA weeks after recording an 11.82 second Lane Agility time. This is not to say Hunter is destined towards an NBA career merely that his agility matches one notable NBA player (Allen). Perhaps more familiar to Tennessee residents…Dedric Lawson managed 11.80 seconds days before going undrafted in 2019. Initiating contact is an area Noel can improve. Be assertive. Add some brutishness to your game. Hunter showed off wonderful endurance. His touch around the rim was ok to good.

A classic 1990's post player. Supreme endurance. Never gets winded. Must defend the big. He wisely dropped off about 4' when a guard/wing tried to tug him away from the basket. Glowing personality. Strong arms. Despite all the swatting and whacking when he handled down deep, Williams rarely coughed the ball up or fumbled it.
