Out-of-state prep imports who impressed this summer

The Southeastern PA prep school scene continues to blossom with a number of schools having made key additions heading into the season. After getting a look at these players both in June scholastic play and on the AAU circuit, here's a look at some prospects coming in from outside the state who should make a splash this upcoming season.    Repeating his junior year after moving up from Middletown (DE), Savior projects as arguably the most important piece to the puzzle if Hill has plans to repeat as PAISAA state champs. A versatile wing forward who was regarded as the top 2027 prospect in Delaware, he shows all the tools of a future high-level college prospect. Savior is comfortable operating on the perimeter as both a ballhandler and shooter while also possessing the size and athleticism to make an impact around the rim on either end of the floor. It's simply a matter of consistency and learning to impose his will on the game in settings where his physical gifts pose less of an overwhelming mismatch. Savior finds himself now in a great place to develop and should be a factor in the local independent school scene from the get-go if his play in the June live periods was any indication.     In seemingly every year in recent memory, Phelps has had a senior guard carrying a substantial offensive load before moving on to the D1 ranks, and Price figures to be the next in line. A native of Rhode Island who's had an itinerant high school career, the Wheeler School (RI) transfer is a crafty guard with a natural gift for putting the ball in the bucket. He plays with effective flair as a ballhandler while weaving to his spots and showing dynamic shotmaking ability from every level of the floor. Not just a one-trick pony, Price also shows flashes of playmaking feel on both ends with the ability to act some as a facilitator out of ball screens. The crafty guard was a consistent standout on the Made Hoops circuit this summer for BCRI and acclimated well during his lone weekend with Phelps in the second June live period. His positional size and well-rounded offensive arsenal have a host of D1 programs already having offered, with Price projecting to make potentially the highest debut of any newcomer in the upcoming update to the 2027 rankings.     Thomas has grown accustomed to winning over four years at powerhouse Roselle Catholic (NJ), and now looks to bring his battle-tested skillset across the Delaware River as a post-grad at Phelps. After mostly thriving on the margins as a role player at Roselle, Thomas seized on the opportunity to serve as more ofd a focal point in June's scholastic live period, getting loose as a primary scorer while showcasing strong slashing ability and a growing arsenal as a pullup shooter out to the perimeter. He plays hard-nosed defense and consistently finds himself around the ball in the floor game. Thomas was also a key piece for a talented NJ Beasts team that made a deep run towards a Made Hoops MHC title. His ability to shift across different roles and contribute to winning in high-level situations make him a prospect to track up to the D1 level throughout the winter.     Perkiomen's play as a team in June was one of the bigger talking points coming out of the Mid Atlantic Independent School Team Camps in Allentown, and Ray's play on the wing was a key reason why the Panthers found so much success. A transfer from Damascus (MD) who will repeat his junior year, Ray shows the type of translatable plug-and-play skillset that D1 programs covet out of wings his size. He's a smooth and confident shooter from the perimeter with advanced mechanics operating off the catch. He consistently applies his length on the defensive end while showing a strong feel for off-ball positioning. Ray isn't a dynamic creator for himself or others, but does show hints of feel and polish off the dribble that could be worth tapping into over time. The Free State native made the jump to 17U UAA competition this July and showed no signs of slowing down, giving him continued momentum heading into a key year for both his development and recruitment.     The Doty name should be familiar to followers of the PAISAA scene, as incoming Syracuse transfer Gavin starred at Phelps before ultimately heading back to the Central NY area for high school and leading Siena to a near-upset of Duke in the NCAA tournament. Now it's his brother Xavier's turn to take on the Keystone State, and the younger Doty made himself right at home during the June live periods as Perkiomen went 7-1 across the two weekends. Doty makes an impact similar to his older brother in that he plays with an unrelenting motor on both ends of the floor with a natural feel for constantly staying around the ball. He's also a reliably dangerous shooter from the perimeter with flashes of athletic finishing when he can get into open space. Doty still has work to do on building up his body and experience to gain in more talent-rich environments coming down from Fulton (NY), but the building blocks are there for him to blossom into a scholarship-level auxiliary guard in the coming years.
