Friday 2027 Standouts from Best of The South

Here are some prospects going into their senior year who caught my eye at Hoopseen's Best of the South. If you are a college coach these guys are worth taking a look at!    Kaufman had one of the best offensive performances of the day, dropping 25 points and connecting on five makes from beyond the arc. A true point guard who keeps the offense flowing by consistently making high-level reads look simple. He excels in drive-and-kick situations, creates quality opportunities for teammates, and controls the pace of the game. He is also a dangerous perimeter shooter with a quick release, capable of knocking down shots both off the catch and out of ball screen actions. His high energy and competitive spirit make him one of the better small college point guard prospects in attendance.     Bo Reid is a lights-out shooter who can play either guard position at a high level. His quick release and ready hands allow him to score both off the catch and off the bounce, making him a constant threat whenever he touches the ball. He also attacks hard closeouts effectively, getting to the rim while playing off two feet and making smart kick-out passes to open shooters. His high basketball IQ shows up not only as a passer but also in the way he uses off-ball screens, relocates around the perimeter, and creates separation for quality looks. Reid plays with excellent pace and never seems rushed, consistently making the correct read whether it's taking the shot or finding the open teammate. He has the ability to heat up in a hurry and completely change the momentum of a game with his perimeter shooting. As he continues to add strength and develop physically, Reid has all the tools to become a highly productive backcourt player at the next level.     Ellison is a scrappy wing who plays with an extremely high motor and competitive edge. Playing up as a freshman with 17u he is impressive with his confidence and thrives attacking the basket, scoring off two feet while showing great patience around the rim. He understands when to attack and when to move without the basketball, creating value in multiple ways. Ellison also impacts winning through hustle plays like offensive rebounds, extra passes, and defensive stops. His late steal and five-second violation forced on an inbounds play nearly helped his team steal the game. He's the type of player every coach loves to have.     Buck is a crafty lead guard who takes great care of the basketball and thrives in pressure situations he finished with 17 points and executed well on the offensive end. He attacks the basket relentlessly, finishes through contact, and consistently creates three-point play opportunities. He has proven he can run an offense while also disrupting opposing guards defensively with active hands that generate steals and turnovers. He plays with excellent pace, rarely getting sped up, and consistently makes the right decision whether it's attacking the rim or creating an open look for a teammate. His toughness and competitiveness stand out every possession, giving his team a steady presence at the point guard spot. As he continues to develop physically, he has all the tools to become a high-level floor general capable of impacting winning on both ends of the floor.     Berry is a physical interior presence who puts tremendous pressure on opposing defenses every time he steps on the floor. He scores with polished post moves, establishes deep position, and finishes through contact with impressive touch around the basket. He dominates the offensive glass, creating countless second-chance opportunities by outworking defenders and keeping possessions alive. He also has enough touch to step away from the basket and knock down a reliable jumper, forcing opposing bigs to respect him on the perimeter. His combination of strength, footwork, and versatility makes him a difficult matchup for any frontcourt. As he continues to refine his overall game, he has the potential to develop into a highly productive next-level post player capable of impacting the game on both ends of the floor.
