BTM Basketball-London Showcase (18U)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Coach<strong>&nbsp;Joe Callero</strong>&nbsp;of Passport Basketball, (who was previously a head Division-1 coach and in college basketball for 33 years), was recently at&nbsp;<strong>Cal Poly</strong>&nbsp;in the Big West from 2009-2019, is now directing a unique basketball and international experience which started three years ago with players from Washington and some NorCal players and that was Arizona's 1st year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I personally invited athletes for a 18U team and a 17U team and I will be traveling with the team for the week and scouting the players.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It is a week trip to London playing versus talented players from the UK. (The two teams will play in 3 games, which are reportedly the three best 16 and 18 and under teams in London.) They will be playing long games with actual&nbsp;<strong>FIBA</strong>&nbsp;rules on big courts that were played on by former Olympians on famous courts in London.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The other days they will be traveling around London with their families that are going with them and doing bus tours, checking out famous landmarks and simply exploring London. He can score with hook shots, he passes it well out of the double team and will step out comfortably and hit the three. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2513390' first='Barron' last='Rygiel'] <strong>Boulder Creek</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A budding athlete is just starting to put it all together with his inside and out play. He has some bounce and skill and he can play inside with offensive rebound put backs with his size and bounce but then shoot the three off the catch. He runs the floor well and he will be needed to help control the glass. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2292816' first='Luke' last='Galvanoni'] <strong>Mesquite</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile point forward type does a little bit of everything. He handles the ball well like a guard and sees plays developing quickly and makes the read. He will score it off the glass with his soft hands and then shoot it from mid to the three point line. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2194808' first='Carter' last='Bagley'] <strong>St. Mary's</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard who has some feel for the game and comes with a college-like frame. He will get downhill using his frame and size for position and then knock down jumpers from the perimeter with deep threes and tough mid-range jumpers getting squared quickly. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1956217' first='PJ' last='Nowlin Jr'] <strong>Canyon View</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile guard who can play a few positions. He is a very unselfish player who reads the court like a point guard. He is always driving and kicking it to a teammate. He can defend with his length and IQ and score it with downhill takes and threes off the catch. His shooting will be needed for this team to be successful. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1986833' first='Noah' last='McKinney'] <strong>Pusch Ridge</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A high motored scoring guard will affect the game and help the team with his shooting from the perimeter and drive to the basket off the dribble. His athleticism is kicking in and he will throw it down on the break and rebound well in and out of his area. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2133646' first='Myles' last='Godfrey'] <strong>Cactus Shadows </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A true point guard has the task of guiding this 17U team versus the 18U competition. He will have to handle the heavy pressure and finding open teammates on the break or in the half court. He will also need to score it with perimeter jumpers and drives. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1873684' first='Tyson' last='Crandall'] <strong>Highland</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A sharp shooting lead guard is an important piece to spacing the floor for the team's success. He can fill it up from the three point line with range and he has a tough mid-range pull-up he often uses. He is quicker and more athletic then you realize to throw it down on the break. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team has the top end guard play and some premier shooting to be successful and if the team can rebound versus the bigger teams they play, this team can do quite well. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>NOTE:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We will be taking 2 teams again next year most likely from&nbsp;<strong>July 31st-August 8th, 2027</strong>.
