Marcellus was one of my top guards I was able to watch over the weekend at TABC, and he definitely impressed me with his shot creating. Luster utilizes good footwork and a number of dribble moves to throw defenders off balance and create space for himself from three point and in the midrange. He disrupts opposing pick and rolls and plays fundamental defense on taller matchups in the post. He crashes the boards well for a guard and showed that he can be either a playmaker or a scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2558390' first='Bryson' last='Bell'] is one of the smoothest guards I was able to catch in person at the Duncanville Fieldhouse, and he is a very high IQ combo guard who constantly keeps defenders guessing on offense. He knows how to get to his spots for open looks, make crisp timely passes to open teammates, and blaze past opposing players in transition. His defenders are often left in the dust as he uses quick speed and shifty handles to get into the paint undeterred. Bell controls the offense well and can utilize his point guard IQ well, even under full court pressure.

The main part of [player_tooltip player_id='2817340' first='Jalleal' last='Callis']' game that caught my attention was his full court pressure on defense. Never afraid to be aggressive with the ballhandler anywhere on the court, this intense defense led to him being able to channel several turnovers into fastbreak opportunities for Victoria West. Using his shifty and quick moves on offense, he found himself open for several three pointers from deep and this helped his team keep the game close.

[player_tooltip player_id='3346672' first='David' last='Mata'] is a smooth lefty guard for Guyer who makes plays happen from all three levels on the court. He scores with high tempo offense, and he is a smart ballhandler in pick and roll situations where he can either attack his matchup head on going to the basket or shooting a jumper. He has good court awareness on defense and an explosive first step allows him to play passing lanes well. Mata understands how to control the pace of the game well for his team and this also allows Guyer to make sure they take smart shots and use every possession wisely.

JT Turner provides a boost of athleticism and IQ at the combo guard spot for Liberty Hill and this showed in their victory over Victoria West. Turner finished primarily under the basket with timely cuts, driving to the rim past perimeter defenders, and grabbed rebounds over opposing players. Turner uses a long wingspan and a quick first step to get past his matchup to his spots and creates for himself and open teammates on the perimeter. JT has a good motor in transition and displays a wide variety of skills that contribute to winning basketball.
