With the release of our initial 2030 watchlist, it's time to breakdown the prospects in various ways to bring light to their skillsets. With this being the crop of rising freshmen, you typically see the guards, whether they're smaller or not, play with much more polish than the lengthy wings or bigs that are still adjusting to their bodies. As we've been spoiled with over the years here in MD/DC, there's never a shortage of high-level guards from year-to-year and 2030 is no different.

For the crafty point guards, click here.

Now, we spotlight some of the more talented scoring guards to keep an eye for this winter.

Cooper is one of the more well-known prospects in this 2030 local class and he'll head to Gonzaga to join a very impressive group of freshmen to go along with a youthful roster. It'll remain to be seen as to whether Cooper can carve out an involved role within the rotation from day one considering the amount of talent in the backcourt for head coach Keith Urgo, but there's no doubt he'll improve his skill set over the next year in practice battles alone. Nevertheless, Coopers is a smooth operating southpaw who can get to the rim while navigating through traffic. He's a crafty finisher once he gets there, but if he has to settle from the mid-range or three, the 6-foot-1 lead guard has shown he's capable of knocking them down in bunches.

Hamlet is another freshman guard who will benefit from being in a talented environment in the WCAC suiting up for McNamara. Another southpaw guard on this list, Hamlet is more of an off-ball threat, but has shown consistent ability to grab rebounds and lead transition opportunities with success. He used his size to finish around the bucket, has improved playing through contact with balance and is another player who can make his defender pay for delayed closeouts.

Kearney looks to make a splash on a Calvert Hall team that needs a prospect who can tee off from deep. The 5-foot-11 guard showed he's certainly capable from the corners in their showing at the EBA Pre-Live Warmup in June as he buried several triples in the four games. He can shoot it off movement, doesn't need much space with his mechanics and doesn't seem to waver when it comes to confidence.

What Younger lacks in size he makes up for with his quick first step, ability to stop on a dime and the quickness in which he can get his shot off operating in attack mode. The high arc on his release makes it easier for him to convert when he's in the mid-range and opposing bigs step up to contest. Yet another lefty guard on this list, Younger is expected to play a significant role as a freshman at Friends where he can learn from two talented senior guards in [player_tooltip player_id='2215677' first='Troy' last='Taylor'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2397813' first='Marc' last='Mason Jr.']

Driver differentiates himself to others on this list as he's more of a downhill threat that can use his combination of size and wiggle to weave through traffic and impact the paint. In the open floor, he's shown ability to finish above the rim on occasion and has the athletic makeup to make it a regular thing by the time we reach December/January of this season. While Driver played more of a hybrid forward role in middle school, the transition to playing more of the guard/wing spot should take place over the next couple of years. He brings intriguing instincts attacking off the catch and the confidence to be a guy the defense has to track with or without the ball.
