2027 Guard Kemper Johnson Talks Ottawa offer and more

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Six-foot-2 combo guard Kemper Johnson Olathe South High School averaged 18.5 points, four assists and three rebound per game last winter and then moved into 17u play with KC Grit N Grind. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Johnson is that high school combo guard that can attack defenses with the dribble but also know down jumpers from various spots. He's a combo guard that can be used in either role and he does it in a crafty way!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"I would describe my game as crafty," Kemper explained. "What makes my game special is that I can score at all three levels. Whether it's a drive that turns into a lay-up or a kick out or I can shoot from range even beyond the line. I can drive into a quick pull up middy. I like to keep my offense unpredictable which makes it hard to guard. I play extremely hard on the defensive side. I am scrappy which can lead to many steals going the other way."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Colleges love a crafty and scrappy guard which is why Ottawa University extended a scholarship offer. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"I have a current offer from Ottawa (NAIA) but I have been speaking to many D2, D3 schools with upcoming visits and have even been invited to a couple of Division one camps, so (my recruitment) has been all over the place at the moment."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ottawa has been in regular contact Kemper and they are forming a connection. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"I love the program," Johnson said of Ottawa. "The coach is very easy to talk to and I am really excited to learn more about the program as time goes on."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Johnson is also eager to keep playing and keep looking at options that could also offer him a chance to play and get a great education. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"As the season is coming to an end I would love to try and pick up some more offers in hopes of finding a home that is right for me athletically and most importantly academically."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 17 and Under season is close to over but it's been a memorable journey for Kemper from late March through late July. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"My 17u season has been great so far," Kemper explained. "Our team has had many ups and downs but ultimately we've been able to come through some good wins and have competed against good regional competition. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>"Personally this season was crucial for me because it put my name on the map. I made a couple of showcase All teams earlier on in the season and showed big impact on the floor each and every tournament. With that I've been able to open up more connections with coaches at the next level."</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
