The 2028 class continues to establish itself as one of the deepest and most talented groups in recent memory, and the guard play on display at the TABC Showcase only reinforced that belief. While many prospects are still in the early stages of their development, several young guards separated themselves through advanced skill sets, competitive toughness, and a mature understanding of the game. Whether it was dynamic scoring, high-level playmaking, disruptive defense, or elite athleticism, these prospects demonstrated why they deserve to be firmly on the radar moving forward. The future of Texas basketball was on full display throughout the weekend, and these guards were among the biggest reasons why.

Max Moody put together one of the most impressive weekends among the 2028 point guard group. He consistently showcased his ability to score efficiently while also creating quality opportunities for teammates as a playmaker. Moody played with excellent pace and confidence, demonstrating advanced decision-making for his age while maintaining offensive aggression. His ability to balance scoring and facilitating continues to separate him as one of the top point guard prospects in the 2028 class. Every viewing seems to reinforce that he belongs firmly among the state's elite young guards.

✅ Dynamic scoring ability
✅ Advanced playmaking instincts
✅ Excellent pace and feel

[player_tooltip player_id='2464612' first='Jordan' last='Hopkins'] was outstanding on both ends of the floor throughout the weekend. Offensively, he consistently created advantages with his scoring ability while also demonstrating solid playmaking instincts and decision-making. Defensively, his competitiveness and activity level allowed him to impact games beyond the box score. Hopkins plays with confidence and poise, and his ability to contribute in multiple areas makes him one of the more complete young guards in the class. His all-around game continues to trend in a very positive direction.

✅ Two-way impact
✅ Reliable scoring ability
✅ Strong playmaking instincts

[player_tooltip player_id='2194543' first='Dylan' last='Steffe'] delivered an excellent weekend performance while continuing to show noticeable physical and skill development. He was disruptive defensively throughout the event, generating deflections, steals, and transition opportunities with his activity on the perimeter. It's evident that his work in the weight room is beginning to translate on the floor, allowing him to play with increased physicality and confidence. Offensively, his perimeter shooting continues to become more consistent with every evaluation, but perhaps his most impressive trait remains his court vision and passing ability. Steffe's combination of toughness, skill, and feel makes him one of the most intriguing guards in the class.

✅ Elite court vision
✅ Disruptive perimeter defender
✅ Improving perimeter shooter

[player_tooltip player_id='2502822' first='Haynes' last='Brookhart'] put the entire state on notice during the opening game of the showcase, knocking down eight three-pointers and delivering one of the best offensive performances of the weekend. His shooting ability immediately grabbed the attention of college coaches in attendance, but his overall versatility and scoring instincts proved equally impressive. Brookhart consistently found ways to create offense while playing within the flow of the game. Several coaches were openly discussing his upside and offensive skill set throughout the weekend. His performance firmly established him as one of the premier young scoring guards in Texas.

✅ Elite perimeter shooting
✅ Versatile offensive skill set
✅ High-level scoring instincts

[player_tooltip player_id='2555176' first='Jeremiah' last='Thirdkill'] showcased why he remains one of the most explosive athletes in the 2028 class. His ability to impact games defensively with his length, athleticism, and disruptive perimeter play consistently created problems for opposing offenses. Offensively, he repeatedly made highlight-level plays in the paint and above the rim, displaying athletic tools that few players his age possess. Thirdkill's combination of explosiveness and defensive versatility gives him tremendous long-term upside. When he plays with aggression and energy, he changes the complexion of games.

✅ Elite athleticism
✅ Disruptive perimeter defender
✅ Dynamic finisher above the rim

[player_tooltip player_id='2546876' first='Gavin' last='Peck'] put on a scoring clinic throughout the TABC Showcase and proved that he can manufacture offense regardless of defensive coverage. He consistently created quality shots for himself while displaying confidence and efficiency from multiple areas of the floor. Peck's shot-making ability stood out throughout the weekend, as he repeatedly converted difficult attempts under pressure. His offensive creativity, combined with his ability to score in a variety of ways, makes him one of the more dangerous young guards in the state. He left little doubt that he belongs among the top scorers in the 2028 class.

✅ Elite shot-maker
✅ Three-level scoring ability
✅ Advanced offensive creativity

Christopher Alexander displayed a mature, physical brand of basketball from the point guard position throughout the weekend. He consistently got downhill, created paint touches, and put pressure on the defense with his ability to attack gaps aggressively. As a lead guard, he showed poise handling physicality, making plays through contact, and competing with toughness on both ends of the floor.

Defensively, Alexander was disruptive at the point of attack, using his strength, instincts, and competitiveness to impact possessions. What stood out most was the confidence and control he played with despite the physical nature of the competition. Alexander has considerable upside as a strong-framed guard who can defend, attack the paint, and contribute in multiple areas of the game.

✅ Physical downhill point guard
✅ Disruptive on-ball defender
✅ Strong-framed guard with long-term upside
