Hersey will be sneaky this season

Fresh off a super-sectional 4A appearance, the Huskies look to be a threat yet again in the MSL and northwest suburbs. Hersey got off to a very good start against Thornton to begin the afternoon slate. Going up 36-21 at the break led by 2027 wing Tristian Trotter. From watching up close, the size they got is very underrated. 6'4" SG Colin Fahey is capable of being an impact player at the next level and he played well on both ends of the floor. [player_tooltip player_id='3427255' first='Jake' last='Nawrot'] and Kyle Peterson are two more guys on their roster with great speed and size. Trotter stayed agressive in the second half with a really strong finish that was heavily contested in transition. Hersey rolled to a comfortable 20-pt win.

Homewood-Flossmoor and Guilford play tight

I originally watched this game to check out how Homewood-Flossmor looks this season. But it was Rockford Guilford who caught my eye yet again in the early stages. This afternoon, it was [player_tooltip player_id='2440418' first='Cooper' last='Pozzi'] who had the hot hand early. Burying a triple with a smooth release and adding another tough drive to the rim. In addition to some solid post moves from [player_tooltip player_id='2919101' first='Ethan' last='Jones'] and Ricky Woods jr. But HF crawled their way back into it. Much thanks to confident shooting and playmaking from 2028 guard [player_tooltip player_id='3669882' first='Jordan' last='Joiner']. He led the Vikings all the way back in it with elite volume shooting and spacing on the floor. 5'10" PG [player_tooltip player_id='2467517' first='Darrius' last='Hawkins'] Jr stood out later on for HF with his dribble moves and playmaking. For Guilford, the post play from Jones and Woods remained solid where they had so much go their way. Homewood-Flossmor would pull away late and win 58-50

Carpenter, Rendeto Shine for Glenbard North

The dynamic 1-2 punch between seniors [player_tooltip player_id='2125660' first='Lamari' last='Carpenter'] and Oturo Rendeto is why they were ranked top 10 in my way-too-early rankings earlier this year. They put on quite the display when watching them Saturday against Stevenson. Fishing assists to each other a bit in the games opening stages. I was mostly impressed with carpenters three level scoring capabilities as well as his ability to create any shot. For Rendeto, not only was he an excellent passer, but he also adds a solid floater to his game. As the contest progressed, I saw Rendeto get hot as a shooter with a few triples to further extend on their lead. Outside of those two, Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='2848533' first='Logan' last='Kramer'] and Treat Forrest played well. Forrest is a guy that plays with great tempo and can shoot effectively. While Kramer has a high motor with some bounce to his game. Carpenter and Rendeto did not slow down one bit. Rendeto finished with 23 points and Caroenter added 17. Trae Forrest also scored 15.

Guards Stand out on St Viator and St. Patrick

Catholic rivals St. Patrick and St. Viator squared off to finish my day. It didn't take long for either team to get going as there were lots of guards that showed speed on the floor. For St. Viator, they got a lot from [player_tooltip player_id='2125608' first='Dawson' last='Charles'], a physical 6'2" guard who has a smooth release on the outside. 2029 PG Naomi Jacobson also looked solid with his shooting stroke. He's only 5'7" right now but should grow quite a bit more. On the other side, a duo of junior wing guards really look promising in 6'4" William Byrd and 6'3" Junior Lopez. I love Byrd's ability to close out spaces on the defensive end while playing with an incredibly high motor. As for Lopez, he shows tons of potential with his athletic frame.
