NEXT Summer Slam: Sunday Morning Standouts

Five prospects who impressed on Sunday morning in Appleton at the Prep Hoops Next Summer Slam!    The talented 2031 wing out of Notre Dame of De Pere stood out in an early morning win for [program_tooltip program_id='2078394' first='Team' last='1848']. He did a great job of utilizing his length to make plays defensively, shutting down smaller guards and wings out on the perimeter. He was able to come up with a handful of steals throughout the game, and his team capitalized with a few transition buckets. He seemed to get more and more comfortable offensively as the game went on, showing some wiggle to beat defenders off the dribble. Good touch out beyond the arc on his three point shot.     The 5'11 big man was controlling the paint for [program_tooltip program_id='2078394' first='Team' last='1848'] 13u in their win over 24:Up. Clay impressed with how well he moves at his size, able to get up and down the floor with ease to keep up with smaller players in transition. He knows how to run his lane, and showed the hands + coordination to catch and finish on the move. Took full advantage of his size by taking smaller forwards onto the block and going to work with his back to basket. Soft touch with his left hand allowed him to turn over his right shoulder and finish with a simple baby hook.     Grant was a standout performer for 24:Up in their tough loss to [program_tooltip program_id='2078394' first='Team' last='1848']. He was a go-to player offensively for them, showing good change of speed to beat defenders off the dribble. He was a difficult matchup as he could beat bigger players off the bounce, but has the strength to bully smaller guards in the paint. Defensively I was impressed with the toughness he showed to defend opposing forwards in the paint despite giving up some size. Super scrappy player who competes for every rebound and loose ball he can get to.     [player_tooltip player_id='3550233' first='Truth' last='Davis'] was all over the floor causing problems for [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] with his quickness and ball pressure on the defensive end. The 2031 guard is a pest on the ball, and his constant effort throughout the game resulted in a steal and assist with just over a minute to play that helped put the game away for Team Hali. Offensively he provides an extra ball handling option to relieve pressure and get his team into their offensive sets. His play on both ends was a big reason for Team Hali's win in the 13u semi-finals.     The 2031 big man out of Jordan looks to be about 6'2-6'3 at this stage, with impressive mobility and coordination at his size. He was a monster on the offensive glass against Team Hali, keeping countless possessions alive for [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] by either securing the ball with two hands or getting a tip out to one of his teammates. Throughout the game he ran the floor hard for transition buckets, scored with his back to the basket, and was a pick & roll threat with good hands to catch in traffic. Promising long term prospect.
