More 27' And 28' Combo Guard Standouts From Midwest Crossroads

The Midwest Crossroads Showcase took place over the NCAA live period this past weekend in Normal, IL. Over the three day event over 50 teams took to the court to showcase their talents. I was in attendance seeing plenty of good basketball being played with teams attending from all across the state. Here we will take a look at some standout 2027 and 2028 guards at the event.    Another back court prospect for Cathedral over the weekend that was a tough out. Quick and crafty off the dribble. Works tangibly cohesive with other guard to put pressure on offense and speed them up at an uncomfortable pace. Hit proper angles to find gaps and showed polished finishing game for runners or floaters. Uses pull-backs and hesi's to create separation and then jet to make a play. Competitor on both sides.     Another back court guard for Lions that was a tough out. Consistently attacked the basket while consuming contact. Hits angles with a full head of steam but doesn't force the equation. Takes advantage of the break phase on a speedy handle or filling open gaps. Knows how to come off screens with or without the ball to make plays. Scoring wise hit a step back jumper, another jay from just inside the 3 point line, and multiple scores to the rim. Shared the rock to cutters, swing passes going baseline, or post feeds. Liked his motor and awareness throughout.     Have caught Maxwell a couple times with travel team over spring season but this was first time seeing him play with scholastic squad. Due to team's makeup plays more of a forward roll but would be fit into a combo guard at next level. Possesses plus bounce at the rim for finishing purposes and on the defensive end. Remained in attack mode throughout consuming contact and getting to stripe after drawing whistles. Competes in multiple phases and stays with the play. Played bigger than size in the paint while guarding and utilizing quickness and anticipation.     Hands down the most underrated 2027 prospect out of all 40 some teams I saw this weekend. Showed ultra bounce at the rim with a division 1 caliber frame from the combo guard spot. Utilized strong body with balance in multiple phases. Played bigger than size because of his quickness and anticipation. Can guard multi-positionally with plus jump and agility. Gets downhill with steam and explosiveness while consistently drawing fouls through contact. Defensively I tallied him for multiple blocks with one being for a fast chase down from behind and steals that led to break buckets. The combination of strength with the intriguing blend of power and versatility will deem him a scholarship player.     A playmaking guard who showed strong vision in the primary break phase. Made timely feeds for pitch aheads to speed offense up off outlets or rebounding it himself. Created advantages to help speed up pace. Caught rhythm from beyond perimeter. Tallied him for 3 3's within flow off the catch with one being from NBA range. An efficient connector that will force defenses to stretch our beyond the arc.     A long and mobile wing that impacted the game on both ends of the floor in morning game on Sunday. Provided volume activity to always be in the mix of the play. Defensively had multiple steals, tipped passes, blocks, or shot disruptions at the rim. Crashes glass with intention and times it right to squeeze high. Eyes are peeled off boards to immediately get team into transition opportunities. Lets game come to him while not forcing the equation on offense. The value he creates on both sides is impactful.
