Midwest Crossroads Showcase: 2028 Floor Generals To Track

Illinois hosted an NCAA live period over the weekend and I had the chance to take in plenty of games at one of the locations. A lot of good basketball was played at the Midwest Crossroads Showcase which hosted a ton of prospects on the teams in attendance. In this article, we'll take a look at specifically point guards and combo guards in the class of 2028 who coaches should continue to have on their radars over the next two years.    Saw Morrison play in our Fall showcase and the compact strong tough guard from Metamora continued to impress this weekend. Makes sound reads within team's offensive schemes while handling. Converted on a hard-earned bucket amongst heavy traffic and more size underneath while also spotting up for a three ball. Cuts off the ball with intention and found success on a back door slob action. A disciplined point guard that coaches should continue to keep tabs on.     A quick twitch guard that gains momentum and space with first step. Showed ability to score from all 3 levels. In Friday evening's game he pulled up from 12, had a stop and pop 3, and also converted on drives from different angles. Smart at drawing extra defenders to then make kick or dish off reads which lead to assists. Liked the way he pushed the ball immediately off outlets. Consistently created opportunities with instinct via speed and IQ.     A versatile guard at the next level with legit size. Kassing displayed great feel with the rock to distribute it evenly to teammates on cutters or forwards beneath in a fast-paced matchup late Saturday morning. He may be labeled as a SG but in this game he showed attentiveness and awareness to see the floor through multiple phases while consuming a lot of tight pressure most of the game. Because of his size he can contribute for boarding opportunities as well and did so on multiple offensive rebounds for put backs. Will be an impactful 1 or 2 guard at the next level dependent upon program need. Should see stock continue to rise.       Saw Williams play at the end of May and what he bought to the game on our circuit. This weekend got to see him with scholastic team and he played with same mold and consistency. A downhill attacker that continued to be a tough out from 3 levels. Put the defense on their heals while getting to his spots in a smooth quick fashion. During team's morning game on Saturday he consumed a lot of contact while getting into the paint and drawing whistles. Had multiple and1 conversions to finish plays. He can score but he sees the floor as well for timely post feeds or interior drop offs after drawing extra man over. Will continue to bring an aggressive offensive mindset.     Caught team's mid afternoon game on Sunday and Jackson handles the main floor general responsibilities for the Crimsons. Displayed plus bounce around the rim for finishes or to crash glass from the guard spot. His high energy and quickness allows him to excel in transition and push pace immediately off outlets or turnovers to create. Will make good reads off drive and kicks or dish offs underneath. Off the ball will slip screens and cut with purpose to widen floor out. Defensively continued to play with active hands and a motor.  Will make an impact in various situations next two years.
