The opening live period of the 2026 recruiting calendar brought plenty of buzz, as several New Jersey prospects continued to raise their profiles and separate themselves within their classes. Meanwhile, a number of rising talents emerged and made immediate impressions. With the May live period now behind us, it's an ideal time to spotlight some prospects who turned heads over the past month and boosted their recruiting stock with strong performances.    Continuing his impressive spring campaign in a featured role for this 17U HGSL NJ Panthers squad, [player_tooltip player_id='2344534' first='James' last='Roberts'] put together another crop of impressive performances throughout the May live period that showcased both his consistent impact and continued development as a more versatile playmaker. Roberts not only provided his usual offensive production displaying his trademark perimeter shooting, stepping into in rhythm looks from beyond the three point arc but also also showing continued increased confidence and comfort as a ball handler— effectively attacking closeouts off the dribble, getting downhill to the rim, and consistently keeping his eyes up on dribble drives to create opportunities for teammates. Proving to be a valuable and multifaceted offensive weapon, Roberts showcased his ability to impact the game as both a scorer and facilitator, continuing to reflect the growth he's making as a more versatile and all around guard.     Leading the way for this 17U [program_tooltip program_id='2309578' first='Jersey' last='Shore Predators'] group as its lead guard, Frankie Hoynowski put up loud scoring numbers that highlighted his ability to attack driving angles with creativity off the bounce and out of PnR offense to get in the lane to finish with strength around the basket while also impressing as a versatile perimeter shot maker from beyond the three point arc. Hoynowski also impressed as a facilitator— making a lot of the right reads with the ball in his hands and keeping his head up on drives, ultimately maintaining his court vision to find open teammates when he saw additional help defense when getting in the lane.   Earlier last month, before the start of the May live period, Hoynowski did receive an offer from Division II Georgian Court.     Sean Perrotta is a strong and noticeably filled out shooting guard who throughout the May live period continued to embrace a leadership role while providing a physical and tough minded presence for this 17U HGSL Panthers group. Perrotta plays with strength and poise off the dribble, blending aggressive drives with a dependable outside shot that features a soft outside touch. Perrotta is highly effective as a catch and shoot weapon, consistently finding open spots along the perimeter and making defenses pay when they lost track of him on ball reversals and skip passes. While also being impactful as a fundamentally sound guard with a high basketball IQ, making smart decisions within the flow of the offense and bringing relentless effort and energy on the defensive end, where he consistently impacts the game.   On the heels of an impressive spring campaign that's seen him emerge as an extremely solid connective piece for this 17U HGSL group, Perrotta earned an offer from Division II Millersville earlier this week.     Last month's live period saw [player_tooltip player_id='2344526' first='MJ' last='Jarrell'] prove to be a highly dangerous and extremely confident scorer from multiple levels, displaying a smooth shooting stroke and finding a strong offensive rhythm throughout the game. A lot of his production comes from beyond the arc, where he consistently knocks down shots both off the dribble and in catch and shoot situations. Jarrell further impressed with his ability to pick his spots and convert on scoring opportunities in the in between area— creating space for smooth pull up jumpers, attacking the basket with pace and hesitation dribbles to get in the lane and convert on soft touch runners while also embracing contact on his drives, and finishing in traffic, ultimately demonstrating a more complete and versatile offensive skill set.     Continuing to stand out as one of the more unique prospects statewide, particularly with his compelling mix of legitimate offensive versatility and uncommon fluidity for his size, [player_tooltip player_id='2218637' first='Kieran' last='Quinn']'s showing over last month's live period only reaffirmed his ability to effectively contribute both in the paint and on the perimeter— strong inside finishing with soft touch and polished footwork around the basket, highlighted by his ability to comfortability put the ball on the floor and attack driving angles not only out of his face up game but also in the open floor. All while offering several strong moments of the floor spacing value he brings at his position— stretching defenses out and capitalizing on open opportunities as a spot up shooter with his extremely soft outside touch. Quinn also impressed with a number of reads he made as a facilitator out the low post, operating with patience and reading doubles to hit cutting teammates.     A highly skilled and invaluable frontcourt piece for this Shoreshots UAA 17U squad, Jack Donohue continued to establish himself as an extremely unique and productive floor spacing forward. Finding a nice rhythm during UAA's Session II in Hamilton, OH Donohue found a nice rhythm offensively, consistently showcasing the unique dimensions he adds to the offense, combining fluid athleticism with a diverse skillset that stands out for his size and position. Donohue effectively stretched the floor by knocking down perimeter shots with confidence and efficiency, proving himself as a dangerous movement shooter, an effective pick and pop threat and a reliable spot up option. Donohue's influence was equally significant on the defensive end, where he used his length, size, and instincts to make a major impact as both a rebounder and show flashes as a rim protector.   Prior to the live period, Donohue earned an offer from Sienna at the beginning of the month of May and could see a plethora of additional scholarship programs begin to show further interest in his unique skillset.     A high energy and explosive forward with rare versatility for his size and position, [player_tooltip player_id='2628248' first='Terrance' last='Jamison'] continued to establish himself as a major two way force this spring through the impact he's provided for this 17U HGSL Panthers' frontcourt. Offensively, Jamison continued to provide significant value as an efficient finisher around the basket— both as a powerful and vertical above the rim finisher as a lane runner in transition and out of the dunker spot catching dump offs from guards who got deep in the paint as well as soft touch finisher around the basket particularly as a cutter, moving well without the basket and finding open space on the floor. All while also putting even more pressure on the rim as an aggressive downhill slasher in face up situations out of different half court actions. Jamison's influence extended far beyond his finishing ability where defensively his versatility has been a consistent difference maker— attacking the glass with relentless energy, comfortable switch ability across multiple positions to contain quicker guards on the perimeter while simultaneously battling bigger post players in the paint, and uses his athleticism to generate highlight reel defensive plays.
