It's a new week of Summer League in Las Vegas, therefore it's a new opportunity to give a preview of what can be expected next season. Here's six guards that showed me they plan to make noise in the Winter.

Now in new threads with a whole new Pinecrest Sloan Canyon team, Angelo is leading the way for them as a CG. The 6'2" incoming senior put his facilitation on full display all game, utilizing penetration and paint touches to find the open man on kick outs. Any time the help didn't slide over, he made them pay with a layup of his own. "Gelo" looked real comfortable from the start and never wavered from that feeling as he controlled the pace of the game in a blowout victory against SECTA.

Kyson is up there as one of the best shooters in the class of 2029. He knows it and others do too. Despite that, he manages to remain open more times than not, but that is a testament to his IQ and understanding that he has to be more than a shooter in order to be a great shooter. He understands the importance of +1 passes when defenses are scrambling to close out on him and he understands how to attack close outs to get paint touches. He put all of these things on display against Civica. Looking forward to seeing more out of Ky this upcoming season.

Kortell has an innate ability for getting paint touches all game long and his unselfish ways makes him one of the best PG's in Nevada. In this game against Mater, he went downhill virtually whenever he wanted to and converted those paint touches to drop offs for easy layups and kick outs for easy shots in the corner or wing. Defensively, he applied continuous pressure on Mater's guards causing havoc that led to turnovers and easy points on the other end for his team.

Nya'Vari was one of the aggressors for Rancho in their win against Valley. As their leading scorer last season, it's no surprise for him to pick up right where he left off but he seems to be more polished than he was just a few months ago. His footwork is smoother, his shot mechanics have grown, and his IQ for the game and making the right play was showing improvement as well in this one. It's obvious he's been living in the gym since last season ended.

LeZarius is one of the few incoming freshman that's ready to make an immediate impact towards winning for his Varsity team. The new Mater combo guard showcased great footwork, patience, and poise in their win against Coronado. He was consistently getting to his spots in the midrange, knocking them down more often than not. He showcased his strength against bigger, older players by bumping them out the way, on the way to the basket. Defensively, he displayed active hands and applied pressure, making it very uncomfortable for Coronado guards that struggled hitting shots all game.

Aaron showcased versatility in his game the other night. His footwork around the basket looked polished and his shot mechanics did as well. He displayed his ability to find cutters on time and on target both in the post and from the corner, he always kept his eyes up in survey of what's happening in the game. I was impressed by the IQ of this 6'2 incoming sophomore wing and am excited to see more out of him as the season approaches.
