The Prep Hoops Circuit fired up for a rare June AAU event this past weekend outside of Detroit. Coined the Great Lakes Closer, the small field still produced some solid play. Evan within a six team field that I was fairly famillar with. Some new names stood out. Following five that caught my eye.

[player_tooltip player_id='2838503' first='Fred' last='Blackmon'] 5-10 2029 Romulus One of the top overall players in the division. Accomplished it all while playing up an age group with Cho-Zen Elite. Electric with the ball in hands. Both in terms of straight ahead speed and in lateral movements. I would not say he is physically advanced but does not move like a player who just wrapped his freshman season. Could score easily but was also a willing passer who played with his head up. Completive and winning player who led his squad to a 3-1 weekend. Didn't back down at all from a dominant Canadian team that handed them their only loss. Not surprised that this a product of the deep talent rich Summit Academy Norh program. Has obviously competed in a high level environment. He told me he was matriculating to Romulus next season. He could be a key piece for the once proud program that hasn't produced a next level basketball prospect in a while.

[player_tooltip player_id='3680599' first='Reo' last='Brody'] 6-4 2028 Hamtramck Even within a field featuring the dominant Canadian Rise Up Elite program. Brody was arguably the most physically imposing prospect in the gym this weekend. Used his bulky but very athletic frame to dominate all weekend for [program_tooltip program_id='2076061' first='Detroit' last='Bulldogs']. Created space in the post with broad shoulders and elevated quickly to the rim. More than just a bruiser though. Showed perimeter ability and was a surprisingly good ball handler. Also showed the ability to shoot from beyond the arc. Put up 17 points in a closing Sunday victory. Part of a deep Cosmos program. Unsurprisingly appears to be trending towards the gridiron as a prospect. However, there is some potential on the hardwood as well.

Jordn Jolly 6-2 2030 Clintonville Middle School Long and lanky player who had a good weekend for the [program_tooltip program_id='2076061' first='Detroit' last='Bulldogs']. Did it while playing up not one... but two age groups. Matched his frontline partner Brody (see above) with 17 points against a Phenom Elite squad that featured a big front court. Very quick laterally and with his length could have serious upside as defender. I was told he will be attending Warren Woods Tower next season. Wherever he ends up, a Detroit are program is getting a player with serious long-term potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='3563484' first='Adam' last='Carter Weldon'] 6-2 2028 Lake Orion With Flint area's Shoebox Elite's playmaking deficit due to injury. Weldon was part of a group "point guard" effort. Particularly on Sunday in his teams closing contest. Initiated offense out of the high post. Found open teammates and hit shots from that area of the court. Put up 17 points in the victory. At 6-2 competed hard against Phenom Elite's 6-8 center. Plays for a solid developmental program. If improves his physicality he could be the next Dragon the bloom late at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='3575046' first='Day'ari' last='Lashley/Thomas'] 6-1 2030 Muskegon Mona Shores I'll wrap up by moving out of the division. I will be brief be as I don't want to step on another scout's coverage. The Muskegon area wing might have the had most long-term upside of any player in the field. Put up 26 points as the Battle Creek Bulldawgs defeated a good 13U [program_tooltip program_id='2077030' first='The' last='Family'] squad that was playing up an age group. Explosive in the open court with multiple dunks in transition. Gets to his spots in the halfcourt with tight handle. Part of some serious 2030 talent coming up from the Lakeshore region.
