Five Standout 2029s at the Kennedy Shootout

Gomez was one of the most productive 2029s in the state last season, a reliable scorer and perimeter shooting threat for the Cougars as a freshman. He's so smooth, a pure shooter with picturesque form, a quick release, and he moves really well without the ball in his hands. He's starting to fill out a bit, which will only continue to help his all-around offensive game. If he can become a more consistent threat with the ball in his hands as a playmaker, he could be one of the best offensive threats in the class.     McKowen has already established himself as one of the state's elite on-ball defenders, and that was on full display on Sunday. He has tree trunks for legs and great lateral quickness that he uses to really make opposing ball-handlers work hard to do anything against him. On the offensive end of the floor, he's a skilled playmaker with good handles and vision, and a reliable three-level scorer who finishes strong through contact.     Tanny has already dealt with some injury issues in his young career, but if he's able to stay healthy, the sky is the limit. He has great size already (which may be attributing to some of the injury issues), and he does a great job utilizing his size and strong lower body to grab great position on the block. He has really good footwork, soft touch around the rim with either hand, and he does a fantastic job keeping the ball high on his post touches and not bringing it down to let the guards' hands get involved. He's strong on the glass, a good help defender, and passes it well out of the post as well.     Gray is an intriguing young guard armed with handles, quickness, and athleticism. He's really good at breaking down defenders with his ball-handling and quick first step that he uses to put constant pressure on defenders. He's a crafty finisher around the rim, solid in the mid-range, and his perimeter stroke is developing nicely. His speed and instincts can be an asset on the defensive end as well.     In a similar mold to his older brothers, Schlaak is long, skilled, and scrappy. He's still pretty raw, but the tools and frame are most definitely intriguing and should be something that will garner the interest of college coaches in the coming years. His length is a major asset on the defensive end and on the glass, and he can handle the ball fairly well for a young wing with his size.
