Duke City Team Camp 2026: Part 2

The Duke City Team Camp was filled with talented players from across New Mexico, all eager to showcase the work they have put in during the offseason and travel season. Teams competed at a high level throughout the weekend, creating exciting matchups and memorable performances. One thing was certain everyone in attendance was treated to great summer basketball.    [player_tooltip player_id='2173093' first='Josef' last='Brisby'] spent the weekend leading his team and controlling the pace of play. He consistently used his speed and change of pace to get to the basket at will. In transition, he pushed the ball up the floor effectively, using his passing ability to make the right reads and create easy scoring opportunities for his teammates. Off the ball, Josef showcased a high basketball IQ, using his speed and timing to slip behind the defense on backdoor cuts. He moved exceptionally well without the ball, constantly relocating and finding ways to get open. Defensively, his quickness and anticipation allowed him to disrupt opposing offenses by jumping passing lanes and creating turnovers.     [player_tooltip player_id='2967333' first='Talen' last='Miller'] used his strength and footwork to consistently create quality scoring opportunities around the basket. Once he established position in the paint, he showcased his soft touch and ability to finish through traffic. Talen was at his best attacking downhill, using his physicality and body control to get to the rim and convert.   On the glass, he displayed excellent rebounding instincts on both ends of the floor. After securing rebounds, Talen did a great job getting the ball out quickly and delivering accurate outlet and touch passes to ignite the offense. His passing ability is a major asset, allowing him to pick up assists naturally within the flow of the game.   Talen played with a relentless motor throughout the weekend, impacting the game in every facet—scoring, rebounding, defending, and facilitating. He consistently looked for ways to help his team win and was a force on the boards. One of his most impressive qualities was his communication. He was constantly talking on the court, directing teammates, calling out situations, and helping keep everyone engaged and organized.     [player_tooltip player_id='2381046' first='Christian' last='Covarrubia'] was one of the top shooters on display this past weekend. He proved to be a reliable catch-and-shoot threat, forcing defenses to constantly be aware of his location on the floor. Christian appeared especially comfortable shooting from the right side, where he consistently knocked down perimeter shots with confidence.   In one game, he caught fire early, going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc in the first half. Once he found his rhythm, he was constantly moving without the ball and staying ready to score whenever the opportunity presented itself. His accuracy, quick release, and ability to get his shot off efficiently made him a difficult cover for opposing defenders.   Beyond his scoring ability, Christian showed that he is an unselfish teammate and a willing passer. He understands the value of turning a good shot into a great shot and consistently looks to make the extra pass when a teammate is in a better scoring position. His combination of shooting, off-ball movement, and decision-making makes him a valuable offensive weapon.     [player_tooltip player_id='2402829' first='Jerry' last='Moody'] was a man on a mission this past weekend, making his presence felt every time he stepped on the floor. He dominated the paint on both ends, showcasing his impact with emphatic shot blocks, powerful finishes, and several monster dunks that energized everyone in the gym.   One of the most noticeable improvements in Jerry's game was his ability to catch and secure the ball in traffic. He displayed soft hands when receiving passes in the paint and showed impressive touch around the rim, allowing him to convert scoring opportunities efficiently. His growth in this area made him an even more dangerous offensive threat.   Jerry's motor and work ethic were on full display throughout the weekend as he consistently fought for position and put himself in situations to impact the game. Every big play seemed to ignite both his teammates and the crowd. Whether it was a highlight-reel dunk, a momentum-changing block, or a strong finish through contact, his energy was contagious. The bigger the moment, the bigger the reaction, making him one of the most exciting players to watch all weekend.
