June 4th-6th I attended the annual Best in Basketball Summer Invitational. It is the premier warm up event for the prestigious Section-7 with 20 Section-7 weekend teams plus others who have a chance to qualify for the weekend.

I watched every team 2-3 times and came up with many different categories to place each prospect.

Here were the Newcomers from the 2029-30's

[player_tooltip player_id='2953190' first='Valentino' last='Barnes'] Desert Edge

A newcomer for me is an incoming freshmen point guard with decent size who is quick and highly skilled. He has a polished mid-range pull-up he often uses, he can hit the three and he has a quick handle to create some separation from his defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='3046022' first='Carmine' last='Flores'] Westview

A pure point guard is a newcomer for me. The PG will make pinpoint passes in heavy traffic and will smartly play off of ball screens and thread the needle. He will score with mid-range pull-ups and blow by takes to the basket. He makes the game very easy to play with him.

[player_tooltip player_id='3662716' first='Sakai' last='Givens'] Chandler

A very strong sophomore with a thicker frame is a scoring guard. He is a shot maker with mid-range pull-ups, threes off the catch, tough traffic takes versus taller players and finds creases in the defense to score. He also rebounds well in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id='3662711' first='Kash' last='McKinney'] Carl Hayden

A long and thicker guard is a newcomer for me. He can score with downhill takes and mid-range pull-ups to the three point line. His frame allows him to handle the pounding inside and he always seems to be in the right spots. He rebounds well and will defend a few positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='3662767' first='Michael' last='Parra'] McClintock

A newcomer for me is a skilled scoring lead guard who is a good passer with some advanced court vision. He will score it with mid-range pull-ups off the dribble and rattle in threes off the catch. He will also collect steals and grab rebounds with his length.

[player_tooltip player_id='3662701' first='Deon' last='Pless'] Higley

The younger brother of [player_tooltip player_id='2194805' first='Marquice' last='Pless'] is a pure point guard who will throw up the court passes. He is a true throwback PG dropping dimes to his cutters, shooters and bigs. He is very quick and will help run the team for the next four years. He also scores with runners, floaters and quick drives.

[player_tooltip player_id='3662703' first='Travius' last='Tucker-Evans'] Carl Hayden (Pictured)

A newcomer for me is an incoming freshmen who is a good looking wing. He can play and defend multiple positions and he is just scratching the surface. He likes to get downhill with very long strides and shows you glimpses of his next level athleticism and upside.

[player_tooltip player_id='3662791' first='Jerison' last='Walcott'] Pinnacle

A newcomer is a pure point guard who just happens to be the cousin of Mike Bibby. He plays the game the correct way and he is smart passer who can thread the needle. He is very quick on the ball defensively with good lateral quickness and he will score with downhill takes.
