June 4th-6th I attended the annual Best in Basketball Summer Invitational. It is the premier warm up event for the prestigious Section-7 with 20 Section-7 weekend teams plus others who have a chance to qualify for the weekend.

I watched every team 2-3 times and came up with many different categories to place each prospect.

Here were the Downhill Players

[player_tooltip player_id='2759169' first='Kha'leal' last='Brown'] Hamilton

A transfer by way of McClintock is fitting in. He is a scoring lead guard who can make plays with some unselfishness but likes to score it. He has an impressive first step to get downhill and he has quick hands and feet on defense and will collect steals which lead to layups.

[player_tooltip player_id='2717233' first='Travon' last='Darby'] Red Mountain

A tough and physical framed bigger lead guard has that inner toughness and desire to compete. He will score with downhill takes with reverse layups, floaters, body contact takes around post players and will throw up the court ropes and drive and kicks. He is very aggressive on the ball and rebounds well with his size and frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146280' first='Taj' last='Deloney'] Mesquite

A quick on quick defensive point guard is quick as a hiccup. He will score with speed bursts to the hole and the lefty uses the floater and can make tough shots off the glass. He has a nice middy pull-up and will occasionally hit the three. He rebounds the ball unusually well for a guard and will drive and kick it to a shooter. His speed in the open court is hard to handle.

[player_tooltip player_id='2692907' first='Carson' last='Harris'] Hamilton

A tough defensive point guard can pester his opponents with his quick hands and feet and make some plays. He is scoring it more now with quick bursts into the lane and score it with and-1 in traffic, mid-range pull-ups and offensive rebound put backs with his toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2886382' first='Brandon' last='Morris'] Pinnacle

A pure point guard with confidence and a tighter handle. He has a dynamic first step which he often uses to get to the basket and try to score it around the basket. He has quicker feet and length to pester opposing ball handlers and plays the passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2754862' first='Anthony' last='Stokes'] Canyon View (Pictured)

A strong guard can play multiple positions for the West Valley team. He rebounds in out of his area and gets many 50/50 balls. He is unselfish and will make up the court passes. He scores with tough layups downhill with a quick first step in traffic, powerful dunks and hit the three. He made a clutch FT to essentially ice one game. He also has very quick feet to defend on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='3075504' first='Tahj' last='Storey'] Hamilton

A super athletic lead guard who is a good passer up the court and will make some bail out passes. He will score it with corner threes, downhill takes and he is stud in transition. He is very athletic to grab the ball almost at its highest point.
