2028 Rankings Update: Top new names part 3

Our 2028 rankings update had 17 players make their debut in our rankings and in this article we'll break down six prospects who were added last week.    Saint Ignatius has an incredibly young team this season as they'll be led by their 2028 core that Lamirand is a big part of. The versatile wing is a Swiss army knife type player as he finds ways to impact the game beyond the stat sheet. Able to guard multiple positions, come up with loose balls and make simple closeout attacks, Lamirand will help his team on both ends of the court. Excited to see this Saint Ignatius core grow with plenty of opportunity for experience available this season.     A multi-sport athlete for Dublin Scioto, Jones has made an impact on both the hardwood and the gridiron at the varsity level. Jones is a quick athlete who wants to pressure the ball and use his quick twitch athleticism to turn over opposing ball handlers. Jones had some nice performances at the Ohio State team camp a couple of weeks ago and looks like a prospect who should be one of the most impactful players in his division of the OCC.     Another Ohio Bruins shoutout, Smith is a talented athlete who can do a variety of things from the power forward spot. Smith is able to operate as a DHO ball handler and has flashed the ability to change directions on the ball. I like his frame and shoulders physically and he should be one of the top rebounders in the Federal League this winter. After an injury cut short his sophomore season, Smith is an easy potential breakout candidate this winter for a GlenOak squad that will look to rise up the conference standings.     Another powerhouse program with a ton of opportunity this coming season, Dawson could be a name to fill in the roles that some graduating seniors left from the Tigers program. I liked the way Dawson moved up and down the court, showing some potential in the open court on the fast break. Dawson is a capable shooter from the outside as well but is at his best when he's attacking the basket. If Dawson can put on some weight and muscle between now and the start of the high school season, I think he has a chance to be named to the all-OCC team at the end of the season.     Grind Until has a couple sneaky prospects to track and Weirich caught my eye early in the spring with his ability to play above the rim, block shots and run the court. The wing forward also flashed some ball skills on the perimeter and seemed comfortable as a mid-range shooter. Another prospect who would benefit from hitting the weight room hard before the winter starts, Weirich has some clear upside as his MVP performance at the Hoover MLK classic with 25 points and seven rebounds show. Weirich also made the move from Uniontown Green to Archbishop Hoban, a program that's been known for competing at the highest levels of OHSAA basketball and has a rich tradition of sending players to the college level in the past decade.     While Andrew's Osborne Academy has made waves in the Prep space, their OHSAA program is also on the rise with a strong 2028 core. Burge impressed at the Prep Hoops Sophomore ID camp last August with his combination of ball handling, passing and defensive ability. Burge holds a pair of offers from Glenville State and Miami Hamilton, and is a name to watch at Midwest Live this weekend.
