Volcano Vista star [player_tooltip player_id='2111977' first='David' last='Lunn'] announced Saturday that he will attend Cambridge Arts, Technology & Science Academy (CATS) in Boston for the 2026-27 academic year, closing out his spectacularly successful prep career in the Land of Enchantment.

Lunn won three state titles with the Hawks and was named New Mexico's Gatorade Player of the Year for 2025-26 after leading Volcano Vista to its fifth straight Class 5A championship. Lunn finished the year averaging 20.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists for the Hawks.

He was also honored as the District 5A-1 Player of the Year and named First-Team All-District. Lunn led Volcano Vista to a sweep of the district regular season and district tournament titles prior to the state tournament.

Lunn was recently offered by Iona and Montana.

CATS joined the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) last June, so Lunn will compete against some of the best prep players in the country every time he takes the floor for a game.

Lunn's decision to move out of state will certainly cause a tsunami across Class 5A, boosting the confidence of several other schools in that classification that they can win the state title next March.
