Nike EYBL(Memphis): Good moments

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Memphis Sports and Events Center was packed with college coaches on day 2 of the Nike EYBL session in Memphis, Tennessee. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Quality programs, along with quality players, were in the building as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tennessee was well-represented on the hardwood floor.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are the good moments from Saturday:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Humphreys came up huge</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2543986' first='James' last='Humphreys'] came up huge for Brad Beal Elite 16U in the team's 71-63 win over Indy Heat. Late in the 4th quarter with the game tied at 63, the lengthy forward got a floater to fall to put his team up for good. He sealed the win with a key offensive rebound in the waning seconds with his team up 6. Humphreys finished the contest with 4 points and 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. He was solid in a highly competitive game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Wade's defensive effort</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2133797' first='Bryson' last='Wade'] wants to play on-ball defense. He did so in Brad Beal Elite 17U's 64-53 win over Jet Academy while guarding Lincoln Vinson. Wade didn't allow Vinson any easy looks from the perimeter. Vinson couldn't create enough space to get quality looks at the rim. Wade did a solid job forcing him into tough shots. Vinson went 2 for 7 from the field and finished the game with 7 points. Wade contributed on offense as well, adding 7 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Another double-double for Cochran</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2376260' first='Davis' last='Cochran'] recorded his second straight double-double for Brad Beal Elite 17U. Coming off a 14-point, 12-rebound performance against Livon, Cochran topped that performance with 17 points and 16 rebounds against Jet Academy. He went 7 for 11 from the field. Cochran did a great job scoring through contact at the rim and battling for rebounds. He displayed his willingness to compete on every possession. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Thad's defense came through</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[program_tooltip program_id='2078772' first='Team' last='Thad'] 16U defeated a then-undefeated CP3 team, 63-61, in a back-and-forth battle early Saturday morning. [program_tooltip program_id='2078772' first='Team' last='Thad'] played solid defense throughout the contest and made timely scores to keep it close. In the fourth quarter, [player_tooltip player_id='2859657' first='Zuri' last='McClure'] Jr. converted on a 3-point play. [player_tooltip player_id='2795834' first='Carson' last='Crump'] made a deep 3 from the right wing. [player_tooltip player_id='2194485' first='Joshua' last='Huggins'] split free throws to give the team a 61-57 lead. Huggins would need to make 2 more to come away with the win. He finished with 21 points and 6 rebounds. McClure was solid throughout, staying aggressive on both ends. He finished with 10 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2523939' first='Israel' last='Dillard'] played 7 minutes, but contributed 6 points. He has good touch around the rim. Dillard knows how to finish. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Friday night lights</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[program_tooltip program_id='2078772' first='Team' last='Thad'] 17U lost to Team Durant, 65-64, after being up by 20 points at one point, but point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2101889' first='Justin' last='Frison'] recorded a triple-double (11 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists). He was in attack mode throughout the contest, which helped [program_tooltip program_id='2078772' first='Team' last='Thad'] get off to a great start. Unsigned senior Kaleb Davis was active near the rim, recording 5 blocks. He finished the night with 8 points. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Fusion's best</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2194617' first='DJ' last='Okoth'] recorded a double-double (18 points and 11 rebounds) in a win over Team Takeover Saturday morning. Okoth is at his best when he's able to get into the lane. He's unstoppable once he's in the paint. Erick Dampier Jr. also had a double-double (14 points and 15 rebounds). He's a man child in the post. It's hard to contain him. The team's starting point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2194475' first='Braylon' last='Williams'] makes everything go for this group. His pace and poise are impeccable. Williams finished with 12 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals.
