This weekend, I attended the Hoop Group's New England Jam Fest at Dana Barros Basketball Club in Stoughton, MA. I mostly took in games from the 17u and 16u divisions, but I watched a ton of teams and players.

As always, it's impossible to see everyone, and I was only at one facility each day. There are LOTS of good basketball players out there!

Read: Hoop Group New England Jam Fest: Best 7 Players I Saw

With that being said, below are 7 studs from 2028.

Bergquist was phenomenal for Middlesex Magic's 16u HGSL team this weekend. The 6-foot-4 point-forward does everything with force on both ends and has the physicality of a college player already. He's strong, athletic, and tough, and he uses his physical tools to bully opposing wings and guards under the rim while blowing by taller and longer players on the perimeter. He has great passing vision—so he can be used as a hub on that end—but he also does the little things and can be off the ball. Defensively, he guards all positions and plays very hard. Once Bergquist makes some improvements to his shot, he could get some scholarship looks. At the very least, I wouldn't be surprised to see high level D3 schools be very interested in him once the time comes.

I can't figure out what position Flood is, but I think that's a good thing. The 6-foot-3 wing (?) is built like an ox and was the best rim protector (yes, you read that right) on his squad. He consistently timed up blocks at the rim and came from the weak side for contests. He's a phenomenal athlete and competitor and just seems like he's everywhere on the defensive end at all times—he can guard everybody, and he's tough as nails. Offensively, he makes extremely crisp passes and shows flashes of super impressive spin moves and feel at the rim. Improvements to Flood's shot and handle would be big, but he'll definitely play college basketball.

Vrettos is probably Total Skills' most potential-filled player. He's 6-foot-5 with long arms and solid athleticism, but he plays at his own pace and has lots of point-forward capabilities; good vision, slow steps at the rim, a pretty looking shot, and a really solid handle. He needs to get stronger and better at taking contact, but he looks like he'll continue to grow and get more physical as time goes on, and he might even have a reclass year available eventually. If you told me Vrettos will play scholarship basketball when the time comes, I wouldn't be shocked.

Marascio handled the ball a lot for Total Skills and has a pretty similar game to Vrettos, though he takes contact a bit better at this point. The 6-foot-3 guard finishes really well with both hands and uses slow steps effectively at the rim, but he's also a talented off-ball cutter and understands how to play within a system. He has good strength and keeps a good line to the rim, and he has really good physicality for his age and size. I'll be curious whether Marascio continues to get bigger and stronger, but he's another college player from this talented Total Skills 16u squad.

Thompson is only 6-foot, but his quickness and strength allowed him to be a super effective scorer and paint-toucher for CT Elite all weekend. He has a super low center of gravity and good quick-twitch dribbling moves, so he's tough to stay in front of consistently. He also gets good elevation on his jumper and can make shots—he has big time confidence. Thompson can pass, too, and has a good feel for the game in general. He strikes me as a D3 player right now, but anything is possible.

Fiske Jr. is a force. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound forward is quite strong and bullies basically anyone who tries to defend him anywhere on the floor. In the post, he uses his heft to put forwards under the basket, and on the perimeter, he's able to handle the ball and keep a phenomenal line to the rim. Fiske Jr. has an interesting looking shot, but he can make it from the mid range and three and has a very high release point, which helps him get it off consistently. The Frederick Gunn commit strikes me as a high level D3 player, but who knows.

Johnson was quite impressive this weekend when I peeked in to watch Rocky Mountain HGAL (I'm not sure if that's his full-time team, but that's who he ran with at the HG NE Jam Fest). The 6-foot-1 guard is SUPER skilled with the ball in his hands and uses shifty ball-handling and great body control to get to his spots on the floor. He finishes quite effectively at the rim, but he also hits shots from the mid range and three, even with heavy contests. Johnson is relatively undersized, but he strikes me as a guy who could be on the scholarship cusp as a result of his skillset and offensive feel.

This weekend, I attended the Hoop Group's New England Jam Fest at Dana Barros Basketball Club in Stoughton, MA. I mostly took in games from the 17u and 16u divisions, but I watched a ton of teams and players.
