The Great Lakes Finals were in full swing over the weekend as we had our full Prep Hoops Illinois staff at the event! Here I examine some of the top prospects that I evaluated at Wintrust in Great Lakes Finals: Scotty B's Top Illinois 2028 Prospects!

[player_tooltip player_id='2540198' first='Terrence' last='Davis'] (All-In Athletics)

Libertyville guard was the top player on AIA and he was one of the best players in the 16U division of the event. His defense and passing have taken considerable jumps since we last saw him. Defensively he was an absolute force defending both on and off the ball. So many steals in the two games we saw which led to points on the other end. Got in passing lanes cutting passes for an array of transition dunks. Smooth handling weaving through defenders going coast to coast off the defensive glass. Blocked multiple jumpers with his anticipation. On the offensive end his crisp handles set up drives getting in the paint for athletic finishes. The passing was a real bright spot for Davis. Set others up in the half court with his passing off live dribbles finding shooters, cutters, and his big man. Long outlet passes on the money.

[player_tooltip player_id='2389107' first='Haze' last='Massey'] (All-In Athletics)

Massey is a 6'2” shooting guard from Warren that could be a key part of a potential state title team running with the state's best player. Electric athlete who played above the rim in both games we caught throwing down massive dunks, showing burst with the rock in his hands, and displayed it defensively as well. Capable spot up shooter and connective passer. Even had some flair dishing it with behind the back passes and dishes on the move. Very good defender that flipped them into dunks on the other end in a hurry.

[player_tooltip player_id='2390523' first='Evan' last='Okey'] (All-In Athletics)

Okey is a 6'8” Libertyville center who has excellent size and skill. Rebounded well in his area, finished through contact consistently in each of the games we saw, and got to the free throw line. Can shoot it off the catch including several threes with an over his head release point. Runs the floor hard!

[player_tooltip player_id='2403305' first='Michael' last='Schaechter'] (All-In Athletics 16U)

New name emerged in this 6'1” Vernon Hills point guard who has an excellent passing feel! Schaecter plays with flair throwing instinctual passes on the money. Finds guys in transition, on the move in the dunker spot, and shooters. Works well in the pick/roll as a distributor. In the second game we saw he shot it particularly well from beyond the arc draining three of them with several off the bounce and step backs. Can also be an impact defender with his pressure on the ball and toughness on that end.

[player_tooltip player_id='2366141' first='Owen' last='Towne'] (All-In Athletics)

Towne is a long and rangy wing that is a connective piece for this or any team he is on. Capable spot up three point shooter who cuts well off the ball for scores. Solid passer and moves his feet defensively staying in front of his man.

[player_tooltip player_id='2853757' first='Case' last='Cosme'] (Pure Hoops)

Cosme is the younger brother of Cale who was also undersized, but proved everyone wrong making it to the D2 level. His younger brother comes in at 5'4” right now, but kid has game too! He is actually probably a better shooter than Cale at the same stage of their development. The Brother Rice point guard poured in plethora of threes both off movement along with pulling up from super deep.

[player_tooltip player_id='2929886' first='Thatcher' last='Lee'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2452458' first='Ayo' last='Dos Elite'])

Very intrigued with this Dunlap face up four man with skill. He has peaked our attention several times this spring as an athletic and mobile power forward with potential as an impactful two way player. Finishes out of the dunker spot, gets on the offensive glass, and is a shot blocking presence that competes on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='3649457' first='Jaivyn' last='Richardson'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2452458' first='Ayo' last='Dos Elite'])

Richardson is going to make noise this upcoming high school season with his speed, playmaking, and shooting. Very fast guard who blows past defenders in transition for scores at the cup. Solid distributor that when looking to set up can be very effective. He also is a quality spot up shooter.

TJ Smith (Chicago Fire)

Smith is a name that our Steve Parham has been high on this spring and I got my first look at the Rich Township 5'10” guard. Quick guard that has juice with the rock in his hands. Wins with his handles and speed for layups and soft touch finishes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2834186' first='Nigel' last='Moore'] (Zero Fears)

Moore played like a star against Phenom United keeping his team right there all game long. Lefty PG from Peoria High is a slick ball handler who has it on a string! Feel at the point playing with nice pace and when he wants to get others involved has proven he can do that at a high level. In this one he was in scoring mode as he poured in three after three. Plus shot maker both off the bounce and with a quick trigger spotting up.

JJ Nash (Zero Fears)

Nash had a breakout weekend putting himself on our radar as the 6'2” Marist shooting guard has a long and rangy frame. Plus shooter off the catch with a quick and fluid shooting stroke. Projects as a three and D wing at this stage as he flashed defensively.
