College Commitment – Donovan Miller (2026 Central Catholic)
Wednesday morning was Central Catholic's signing day ceremony for Rams senior student athletes and among those being celebrated was Donovan Miller. The lanky 6-foot-8 wing was going to be a college basketball player, the question was going to exactly where. This past week that was all settled as Miller took an official visit down to Loyola Marymount and when an offer was extended, the senior knew it was the right move to be a Lion.
"It's just going to be the best program for my development, and I feel the coaches strike me as like they're investing in me," Miller said. ""I feel like me going there with Bam (Paschal) too is just going to be a plus. On my visit, I met with Coach Stan (Johnson) and all the coaching staff, and it was just a great time - they made me feel like at home. I'm ready for the work and that's what it's all going to be."
Miller expanded into what else he likes about Loyola Marymount - the school and the Lions basketball program. "It's a very good academic school right in LA and it's a very good basketball program, a winning team," Miller said. "After what Central taught me here, it's going to be not easy to translate, but it's going to help a lot - coming off the ball, I'm just going to be able to shoot it and play defensively better. I'm going to be training every day with Joe Brooks (of Straight Buckets Performance), and my other training is to get me ready so that I'm not just thrown into the fire there and I'll be ready."
Miller's commitment to Loyola Marymount caps off a career at Central Catholic that ended with a bang. After spending years waiting his turn, Miller became a full-time starter this year on the wing and was one of five Rams to average double figures while he led the team in three-point field goals made. There were lots of memories were made for sure.
"You know I'll remember how good we were and how close we were with this team," Miller said. "And just being in the freshman year gym with everybody, and all my friends and stuff - that was just great. Central's been a great time."
Our congratulations go out to Miller and his family on his commitment.
