One of the more intriguing storylines from Big Shots Rock the Rock with Paul Biancardi in Rock Hill was the number of younger prospects competing up an age group and holding their own against older competition. Throughout the weekend, several underclassmen showed maturity, confidence, and production well beyond their years while facing high-level opponents. Playing up is never easy on the travel circuit, but these prospects embraced the challenge and continued to prove why their long-term upside is worth monitoring closely.

Leading off the list of Prospects Playing Up at the Big Shots Rock the Rock with Paul Biancardi is [player_tooltip player_id='2563974' first='Taye' last='Stanley']. Stanley was one of the top players I wanted to see this weekend, so I can continue to get a better feel for his game. He doesn't have a huge offensive role with [program_tooltip program_id='2078535' first='Team' last='Charlotte'] 16U, but stayed engaged on the offensive glass and made the right play when he put the ball on the floor. Taye is also a rangy defender who can use his length to protect the rim or force turnovers across the floor. He finished with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals in a win over Georgia Knights.

One of the most impressive individual performances of the weekend came from this Upstate Point Guard. Max had a 27-point game, not only playing up with [program_tooltip program_id='2845772' first='Hoopzters' last=''] 17U, but playing against a full team of 2026s, Carolina Misfitz. You wouldn't be able to tell Hayden's age by watching him work this game, because he is a poised offensive player who gets to his spots at ease, hits tough shots over good defense, and is a weapon on designed actions. Keep an eye on this rising freshman to be one of the best guards in the state over the next four years.

Another [program_tooltip program_id='2845772' first='Hoopzters' last=''] 17U player who stood out playing up is Scott. Scott was the team's second leading scorer in Rock Hill behind Hayden, putting up 13.8 points per game, including a 25-point outing in game two. William's calling card is shooting. He is important to the [program_tooltip program_id='2845772' first='Hoopzters' last='']' offense because of the spacing he creates from the wings and the pressure he can put on the paint when playing closeouts.

Now to the other side of the Carolina border, Nylan Patterson was an 8th Grader playing up with TLBA 15U at the Big Shots Rock the Rock. Despite his size, Patterson didn't show any signs of being scared to attack the rim or back down from challenges on the defensive end. He has good hands to help force havoc off the ball, has a solid jump shot off the dribble, and is a strong communicator on the floor.

Another one from the TLBA program who caught my eye against older competition is Jones. Although there are some bigger names on his team who will garner lots of attention, LJ looked like the piece that made the team run at its best when he was on the floor. He does a good job of creating paint touches and finding open teammates, guards his yard defensively, and is a creative finisher at the rim.

Rounding out the list of Prospects Playing Up at the Big Shots Rock the Rock with Paul Biancardi is Bryan Kababi. Kababi runs with Dunkman Elite on the Big Shots Circuit, but despite his age, he's one of the most physically impressive players in the 16U division. Bryan is a dominant rebounder on both ends of the floor, and he will handle it in transition after a defensive one. He is also strong through contact as a finisher on the offensive end, but needs to work a little bit on his touch and range from 10+ feet. Kababi finished with 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks in a win over Team USC Premier.
