The CBG Championships once again brought together some of the top talent from around the region, and several unsigned seniors used the weekend as another opportunity to prove they belong on college rosters. With coaches still looking to fill late spots and add impact players heading into the summer, a handful of 2026 prospects made strong statements with their play.

These players didn't just put up numbers; they competed, made winning plays, and demonstrated the toughness and versatility that college programs value at the next level.

Dean Quaye Jr. continues to prove why he deserves serious attention from college programs still searching for backcourt help in the 2026 class. The physical combo guard had another productive weekend at the CBG Championships, showing his ability to create offense while competing at a high level on both ends of the floor.

After playing a national schedule at S3 Academy during his senior season, Quaye looked comfortable in high-level competition and never backed down from tough matchups. What immediately stands out about his game is his toughness and confidence with the ball in his hands. He does a great job getting to his spots, creating separation, and making difficult shots in traffic.

Quaye also impacts the game beyond scoring. He consistently pressures opposing guards full court, plays with energy defensively, and makes hustle plays that help swing momentum. His ability to defend, compete, and play through contact gives him value for programs looking for guards who can contribute immediately.

Late in the recruiting cycle, finding experienced guards who bring toughness and production is important, and Quaye checks a lot of those boxes. He looks like a player who can thrive in the right college system because of the edge and competitiveness he brings every possession.

Few players in attendance could score the basketball the way Faron Friend can. The Glen Allen product and all-time leading scorer in school history once again showed why he has been one of the more underrated offensive players in Virginia.

At 6-foot-4, Friend possesses the ideal size for a perimeter scorer and uses his length extremely well offensively and defensively. His ability to shoot the ball from deep immediately grabs attention, but his game is much more complete than simply being a spot-up shooter. He can create off the bounce, rise up over defenders, and score from multiple levels.

Friend also showed his defensive potential throughout the weekend. His length allows him to disrupt passing lanes, contest shots, and guard multiple perimeter positions effectively. When engaged defensively, he can create transition opportunities and impact the game without needing the ball.

College programs searching for scoring on the wing should take a long look at Friend. Players with his combination of size, shooting ability, and experience are difficult to find this late in the recruiting process. He has the tools to provide immediate offensive production while continuing to expand the rest of his game at the next level.

Myles Tyler put together another impressive weekend representing Team [program_tooltip program_id='2416185' first='Loaded' last='804'] Black and continued to establish himself as one of the tougher unsigned guards in the area.

Tyler plays with a physicality that immediately stands out. Despite being listed at 6-foot-1, he consistently plays bigger than his size and embraces contact on both ends of the floor. Whether attacking downhill, finishing through defenders, or battling defensively, Tyler competes with toughness every possession.

Offensively, he proved he can score in multiple ways. He knocked down perimeter shots with confidence while also using his strength and body control to create opportunities inside. His efficiency and shot-making ability helped him stand out throughout the event.

What makes Tyler especially valuable is his versatility. He can defend multiple positions, handle the ball, and impact the game as both a scorer and secondary playmaker. Coaches looking for guards who bring energy, toughness, and positional flexibility should have him firmly on their radar.

Players who embrace physical play and consistently compete are always valuable at the next level, and Tyler looks capable of making an impact in a college program that values toughness and winning basketball.

With coaches still looking to fill late spots and add impact players heading into the summer, a handful of 2026 prospects made strong statements with their play.
