Bash in the Desert: Performance Evaluations V:2

Bash in the Desert by Prep Hoops was a blast this weekend—high-level talent, competitive matchups, and plenty of players that made strong impressions throughout the event. Got eyes on multiple teams and prospects, here are a few players that stood out to me.    Physical guard that consistently applied pressure attacking the basket, finishing well around the rim with both layups and dunks. Did a good job attacking the baseline and creating driving angles off the bounce. Showed the ability to handle the ball and help initiate the offense, while also creating solid opportunities for teammates. Used his frame well to shield defenders and stay controlled through contact.     Lefty wing that shot the three ball well off the catch, showing a quick release and confidence stepping into perimeter looks. Showed the ability to attack off the perimeter when run off the line, getting to the basket in straight-line situations. Also provided solid rim protection defensively, using his length to alter shots around the paint.     Quick, shifty guard that applied constant pressure getting to the basket, showing the ability to change speeds and get by defenders in a hurry. Absorbed contact well for his size and stayed controlled finishing in traffic. Showed a really good handle with the ball in his hands, creating space and keeping defenders off balance. Displayed good vision in the open court, consistently finding teammates in transition and making the right reads on the move. Also shot the three ball well and showed comfort getting to the pull-up mid-range, able to stop on a dime and rise confidently into jumpers.     Guard with a good handle that showed the ability to create separation off the dribble with his quick burst. Consistently got into the paint and applied pressure attacking the basket. Finished well around the rim for his size, staying controlled through contact and converting in traffic.     High-motor guard that was highly effective in transition, constantly putting pressure on defenses in the open floor. Did a great job attacking the rim and finishing through traffic, showing the ability to play above the rim around defenders. Also proved effective in the half-court, getting to the basket with minimal dribbles and attacking gaps aggressively off the bounce.     High-energy wing that thrived in transition, consistently sprinting the lanes and attacking the rim with force. Dangerous in the open court, whether grabbing the rebound and pushing it himself or filling lanes and finishing above the rim. Moved well without the ball and showed a quick first step attacking off the catch, allowing him to get into the paint before defenders could recover. Finished well through traffic and brought constant pressure around the basket as a lob threat.     Skilled forward that consistently stretched the floor from three while showing a polished interior presence in the post. Operated with good patience and footwork on the block, utilizing spins and counters to create clean scoring angles around the basket. Finished plays well above the rim and played with strong touch around traffic. Showed the ability to impact the game both inside and along the perimeter, operating comfortably with his back to the basket while still bringing mobility offensively. Also did a good job keeping the ball high in the paint, minimizing strip opportunities and staying strong through contact.
