I attended the annual Prep Hoops AZ Bash in the Desert at the Phhacility in Phx May 1-3.

I viewed nearly every team in the 17U division but also saw some 15 and 16U teams. And here were some of the breakout players that I viewed.

15-16U Breakout Players

[player_tooltip player_id='2506438' first='Isaac' last='Teasley'] Sahuaro (Tucson Spartans 16 Rise) (Pictured)

Easily THE breakout player of the tournament was Teasley. He put on a clinic scoring from all levels with mid-range pull-ups, threes from the parking lot off the dribble and has a tighter handle to get to his spots. He has a great feel to make a play and had a couple needle threaders. He has quick feet and hands to rip pockets and is line for a big junior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2990378' first='Kaden' last='Lea'] Buena (Tucson Spartans 16 Rise)

A long wing forward who can play and defend multiple positions. He is a great rebounder in and out of his area and brought more of a motor in this tournament. He plays off of two-feet and will pull-up from mid-range, score off of the glass with put backs using his length and athleticism and will cut off the ball. His overall energy looked night and day from a year ago.

[player_tooltip player_id='3625613' first='Domino' last='Moore'] Hamilton (UH Elite 16)

A newcomer for me is a tough point guard who can handle it and comes with some skill. He will make plays for his teammate and score it with mid-range jumpers and threes off the catch. He can get a step on his initial defender and get all the way to the hoop. He is feisty on defense to collect steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='3191459' first='Eli' last='Avechuco'] Buena (Tucson Spartans 16 Rise)

A shooting guard from Tucson is a natural scorer and a tough defender. He will put points on the board with rip thrus using his longer strides, offensive rebound put backs and will finish with either hand in traffic. He is also competitive on defense to stay in front of his man.

[player_tooltip player_id='3625595' first='Findley' last='McHugh'] Chaparral ([program_tooltip program_id='2076648' first='Peak' last='Basketball'] UAA Rise 15)

A long wing forward is another newcomer for me. He has plus length and size and brings skill to the floor. He will catch and shoot it from the three point line with a nice looking stroke and balance. He will get on the glass and wall up to rebound and/or defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='3596917' first='Josiah' last='Miller'] Sabino (Tucson Spartans 15)

Another Tucson newcomer is a power forward with some size and length. He is a potential stud shot blocker who runs the floor well and cover in space. He looks to be a rebound chaser off the glass and will score with lob dunks or layups and offensive rebound put backs bringing a plus motor to the court.
