The Windy City War kicked off on Friday night in Romeoville with a fun night of hoops. We had a full group of scouts in the building for night one. Here I dive into the three games I caught which included quite a few prospects from the state that emerged as legit prospects in Windy City War: Scotty B's Friday Notebook!

M14 Gold 15U Opens Strong with Win vs [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] Gold

Circled this one in the early slate to find more 2029 prospects and that certainly the case in M14's 76-65 win against [program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] Gold at the 15U level. Stephen Lindquist from Wheaton Academy made a name for himself dropping 20+ points in the victory. The shooting guard is a plus shooter who poured in five from beyond the arc in the victory. Plus shooter that plays really hard and pushes in the open floor. Marmion Academy big man Will Kolkman made an impression as well. The wide bodied five man has good size, soft hands, and touch around the basket. Consistently carved out space and finished dump off passes for 12 points. South Elgin wing [player_tooltip player_id='2784901' first='Danny' last='Lesser'] brings solid size and athleticism scoring in the open floor while Bartlett forward Andy Mechole displayed versatility throughout the win. [player_tooltip player_id='2838017' first='Luke' last='Wagner'] of St. Charles North and Haddon Enderson of Geneva are solid point guards that look to get others involved. [player_tooltip player_id='2780122' first='Logan' last='Wagner'] from St. Charles North is a two guard that has some scoring pop.

[program_tooltip program_id='2076459' first='Breakaway' last=''] gold was pushed by Glenbard East strong bodied forward [player_tooltip player_id='2835803' first='Carter' last='Pohlman']. Like what he brought as a physical rebounder that could stretch the floor with his shooting and had some nifty finishes around the cup in this game. York point guard [player_tooltip player_id='3575232' first='Reid' last='Gabuzda'] is a lefty point guard that is super crafty with the rock getting in creases and knocking in a pair of threes.

2027 Forwards Sago and Johnson Duel in [program_tooltip program_id='2075383' first='Chicago' last='Demons'] Victory Against Infinity Sports

Really fun 17U game here as the [program_tooltip program_id='2075383' first='Chicago' last='Demons'] scored a 77-64 win against Infinity Sports. Montini 2027 6'6” small forward Daniel Sago was the show in this game. I honestly don't remember seeing him before, but wow is he going to make a nice debut in our next update. Legit size, length, frame, and bounce to his game. There is skill to match. Plus shooter from three that every time the ball left his hands it was lightning quick off the catch from three draining several off movement. Made a few nice passes in the half court, quick post up for scores, and got loose for multiple dunks in transition. Defensively he was a force covering a ton of ground. We had him for 20 points in the win. Top stock riser of night one! Marshall 2027 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2827104' first='Rayvon' last='Myles'] put his name on the map during the state finals and continues to impress. Good length and excellent burst with the rock to the rim. Scores so well at the cup with explosiveness and nifty finishes. Active defender had 12 points. Perspectives point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1874813' first='Jayden' last='Taylor'] played with good feel in this game pushing, setting up teammates, getting after it on D, and scoring when opportunities presented themselves as he had 11 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2532358' first='Zaire' last='Green'] of Whitney Young is a power wing that plays bully ball downhill and rebounds for a guard. Julian's [player_tooltip player_id='2490487' first='Torrey' last='Barrett'] is a sleeper at the small college level in 2027. Athletic wing on straight line takes that can get hot from distance.

For Infinity Sports it was the [player_tooltip player_id='3430192' first='Xavier' last='Johnson'] show. At about 6'4” the thick bodied Westinghouse 2027 wing showcased a feathery touch throughout the game bombing in one three ball after another. Quick release on his shot and got in the mid-range at times as well notching 22 points.

D1 Illinois Jets 16U Show Depth in Blow Out Win to Close Evening

In the last game of the night it was D1 Illinois Jets scoring a 85-50 W against Illinois Prestige in a 16U contest. The highest ceiling prospect was Providence wing Jayde Wyatt. Lefty small forward with a long and lanky frame who has a clean looking shot off the catch. Ran the floor hard, mixed in some mid-range shots and touch finishes, along with being a connective passer. We had him for 16 points as the 2028 put his name on our radar. Bloom 2028 guard [player_tooltip player_id='3454788' first='Jaquan' last='Harris'] had a quiet first half and then turned the intensity up several notches in the second half especially on the defensive end racking up the steals and transition points. Southland Prep had a couple notable prospects we liked in [player_tooltip player_id='2950452' first='[player_tooltip player_id='2375418' first='Tristan' last='']' last='Garner'] and Robert Boyd. Garner is a projectable two guard that hit a three and flashed athletically. Boyd put together a flurry in the first half with his jumper and passing. [player_tooltip player_id='2836171' first='Cameron' last='James'] out of Merrillville (IN) is a bucket getter as a smaller scoring guard that can pull up from deep!

[player_tooltip player_id='3573619' first='Lonnie' last='Newman'] from Fenger is the highest upside prospect for Illinois Prestige with his size on the wing and ability to get downhill with his frame. [player_tooltip player_id='2835936' first='Cameron' last='Minter'] is a tough smaller guard that won on straight line takes.
