Upside 17U Prospects from the Sooner State Special

Jones is one of the top ascending prospects in Oklahoma, because he has a special combination of height and athleticism. Hard working forward from the Texas Panhandle, was a fan of the hardhat mentality he brought. Runs the floor hard in transition, hustling to follow up teammates' shot attempts. Even was rewarded for with a putback. Had moments of nimble footwork for his size. Including a nice spin and score for a finish out of a pick and role. And instances on defense when it comes to hedging and trapping when his man was setting ball screens. Only a rising sophomore, so he could still be growing.     A long armed forward forward prospect, Malone was outstanding in a Saturday afternoon win. When his activity is up, he's a force on both ends of the court. Swatting shots and securing boards. Running the floor for dunks, and earning second chance opportunities for his teammates. It was promising when he took a spot up three in rhythm and cashed it. But a little later in the contest, he took an off the dribble three and it wasn't near as clean. With a pivotal 17U summer ahead, Malone will have a chance to turn coaches' heads by playing to his strengths.     This past high school season, Boone provided valuable post depth and spurts of productivity for 5A State Tournament qualifiers Tulsa Memorial. He has a massive wingspan, which aids for dunks around the rim and most importantly blocked shots. Was on the rims a bit on Friday night. Then impressed on Saturday afternoon when he volleyball spiked a shot with authority. Still a bit gangly in his movements, but understands his role. Sets screens and rolls well to the rim. First was notable for his lateral movement when stepping out to cover smaller foes. His long arms also helped him on that end, making him a rangy defender who can impact passing lanes. Is a long strider in transition, which helps him as a finisher. Even had the body control on one drive to slow down and contort his body to avoid a help defender who was set up for a charge. Teer could be set for a big senior year, as he clearly has some untapped potential.
