We at Prep Hoops VA recently updated our 2027 rankings, expanding over 150 prospects who we feel are ones to watch in the junior class. Here's a look at the forward prospects from the Richmond area in the rankings.

#8) Keaton Gregory | 6'9” C | Trinity Episcopal

Gregory has been one of the most talked about prospects in the Richmond area since his freshman year at Trinity, and one of the most encouraging things about him is how much he has improved over that time. The 6'9” big man has really improved into a knock down shooter who can stretch the floor and is a good passer on the perimeter, he has soft touch around the rim and can use his length to finish, and he is a vocal anchor to the defense with the ability to challenge shots at the rim too.

#59) Donovan Stinney | 6'6” PF | Henrico

Stinney came out of nowhere to be one of the best players in the Richmond area this year, as he was Henrico's top scorer and rebounder earning All Region honors and should be a player that coaches should get eyes on this summer. The 6'6” forward fits the archetype of the new age four man perfectly as he's mobile and athletic getting up and down the floor and switching defensively, he can score the ball from multiple levels both playing on and off the ball, he is a good athlete when he gets around the rim, and he is a walking mismatch that is hard to game plan for.

#65) Jovin Johnson | 6'7” PF | Glen Allen

Johnson is one of the more intriguing long term prospects in the Richmond area, as he's shown a lot of improvement over the past couple of years and has a lot of tools that should translate well to the next level as he continues to develop. At 6'7” with long arms he's a good rim protector both coming help side and chasing down blocks, he can is very good in transition as he runs the floor and is an athletic finisher, he's a good rebounder who attacks the offensive glass hard, and he is improving at a good rate on the offensive end too.

#66) Conner Wilcox | 6'6” PF | Atlee

Wilcox has been one of the more consistent forwards in the Richmond since he was a freshman, as he's been All Region all three years and helped lead Atlee to a state championship his sophomore season. He's a walking mismatch as he's the classic stretch four man that can knock it down at a high clip from deep and create spacing, he's strong enough to post up and bang in the paint for rebounds, he has a high IQ as a playmaker and a defender, and he is able to create off the bounce surprisingly well too.

#69) Maddox Patrick | 6'7” PF | Trinity Episcopal

Photo: instagram @maddoxpatrick_

Patrick dealt with some injuries early in his career at TES, but he was healthy this past year and had a good junior season showing his ability to impact the game in a number of different ways. He is well built and strong in the post and as a defender, he moves well in the open floor and has the ability to isolate and put it on the deck, he can score the ball form multiple levels and in different ways, and he is a good rebounder as well.

#99) Bodi Corley | 6'7” C | James River

Corley is a super intriguing prospect that coaches should get their eyes on with Team Richmond alongside Wilcox this summer, as he is a very athletic forward with a lot of room to get better as he continues to work. The late bloomer had a great junior year as he dominated the paint on both ends of the floor, he rebounds well in traffic and is explosive and strong playing through traffic, he gets above the rim and finishes with authority, and he's able to step out to the high post and knock down shots as well.

#131) Abram Schrinel | 6'6” PF | Douglas Freeman

Schrinel is one of the more consistently productive players in the Richmond area, coming off a junior season where he put up big numbers and he should catch eye of college coaches with Team Loaded Gold on the Adidas Gold Gauntlet. While he's slightly undersized he has very long arms and uses them to rebound and challenge shots, he plays with a terrific motor on both ends of the floor, he can take defenders off the bounce and is a good finisher through contact, and he simply outworks a lot of players and impacts the game in ways that do and don't show up on the stat sheet.
