College Commitment – Eli Vizconde (2026 Mountainside)
For a high-academic student like Eli Vizconde, choosing a college wasn't just about basketball. The versatile 6-foot guard from Mountainside was actually looking academics first with the hopes that basketball would also be a fit. Turned out he found the right fit close to home and recently made the decision to continue his academic and athletic career at Pacific University in Forest Grove.
"I decided to go to Pacific primarily because of their dental program," Vizconde said. "I like the small class sizes, flexibility, and community. I like how the coaches are welcoming."
Vizconde had been eyeing Pacific for quite some time for his academic goals, but there's no question that Boxers head coach Justin Lunt and his staff also hoped to add him to their roster for his basketball skills. As it turns out, it's the right fit on the court for Vizconde and he's ready to step right in and help.
"I think I'll be able to contribute on the court being able to shoot and handle the ball," Vizconde said. "I want to work on my strength."
Mountainside's all-time leader in points (1231), steals (145), and three-point field goals made (206) while ranking second in assists (247), Vizconde had a four-year career as a starter and contributor to 68 wins and a state tournament appearance his freshman season. So many memories for the most recent Maverick to head to the college level but there's one that stands out more than the rest.
"I'll remember playing in front of so many people against West Linn my freshman year," Vizconde said.
Our congratulations go out to Vizconde and his family on his commitment.
