The Commonwealth Basketball Group was back with another event this past weekend, featuring some of the top teams from all over the state of VA. Here's a look at seven of the top 17U standouts at the event.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916403' first='Eziah' last='Goodson'] | 6'2” PG | [program_tooltip program_id='2226307' first='Team' last='Loaded VA'] 16U

Goodson is one of the best young guards in the state, coming off a season where he was named Region 5A Player of the Year at Princess Anne, and he's got a big summer ahead of him if he keeps playing like he did at the event. The 6'2” lead guard is shifty and quick off the bounce getting to spots and making tough shots from all three levels, he has great vision and can deliver dimes with both hands, he is a very crafty scorer through traffic when he gets downhill, and he is a sneaky athlete who is getting more explosive by the day.

[player_tooltip player_id='2353668' first='Kamdon' last='Brangman-Cain'] | 6'5” WF | [program_tooltip program_id='2226307' first='Team' last='Loaded VA'] 16U

Brangman-Cain transferred to Blue Ridge this past season and reclassified to the 2028 class, and there's not doubt that was a great move as he had a great season and is a player that college coaches will be very intrigued with this summer. At 6'5” with a strong and athletic frame he gets downhill at will and plays through contact very well, he's an explosive finisher when he gets downhill and out in transition where he can absolutely fly, he has improved quite a bit as an outside shooter, and he has huge upside on the defensive end as well.

Javen Little | 6'8” C | [program_tooltip program_id='2226307' first='Team' last='Loaded VA'] 16U

Little is another intriguing prospect on this Loaded team, as he may not be as well known as some of the other players but the 6'8” big from Dinwiddie has some seriously intriguing potential moving forward. He moves well for his size as he's able to stunt and recover or show on ball screens, he is a good help side defender who can challenge and block shots at the rim, and he has soft touch and good feet in the post with a lot of upside on the offensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='2918915' first='Aiden' last='Friend'] | 6'4” WG | New World 16U

Friend had a very good sophomore season at St. Stephen's St. Agnes this past year, and he looks like he's going to continue to build upon it this summer with New World. At 6'4” with long arms he has the prototypical size and frame to play at the next level, he is a knock down shooter with great form and effortless range, he can attack closeouts and finish at the rim, and he consistently makes the right play on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2918922' first='Peyton' last='Hicks'] | 6'3” WG | Local Legends NXT 16U

Hicks has been a standout at Matoaca since he was a freshman, and it was easy to see why at the I-95 Series where he showed a blend of toughness and skill the willingness to contribute in a number of ways. The 6'3” wing showed he can work off the catch as a shooter and attack closeouts, he scored it well from multiple spots on the floor, he showed good feel for the game and changed pace well, and he showed a chip to him competing on both ends as well.

Jules Marshall | 6'1” CG | Local Legends NXT 16

Marshall was a breakout player at the event, as the LC Bird sophomore showed he has some sauce to his game and played well against some high level competition. He showed a good handle with the ability to shift defenders and showed good burst getting in the lane, he finished some very tough shots at different angles and over bigger defenders, he got to spots off the bounce and made plays for others, and with his long arms he was active defensively too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2548307' first='Logan' last='Brooks'] | 6'3” WG | Local Legends NXT 16U

Brooks is one of the more underrated players in the NOVA area, as he was a big part of Evergreen Christian's state championship run and he always seems to be consistently productive across the board. The 6'3” wing uses his length to rebound and make plays defensively, he's a good athlete who can both handle it and run in transition, he scores it efficiently within the flow of the offense, and he does a lot of the little things to help his team win.
