Central California - This is the 5th Annual 661 Hoops All-Central Section teams, which represents 50 players from all areas within the Section, from Bakersfield to Fresno/Clovis to the Central Coast. These teams are designed to shed light on the players that earned MVP and 1st-Team all league honors, and not necessarily the top 50 prospects in the Section. These All-Section teams were compiled using the following criteria: individual league honors earned, success of the team in league and postseason play, and the statistics accumulated for the season. This article includes the following information: player name, position, height, school name, and current grade. We begin with players from the 2nd Team All-Section roster.

2nd Team All-Section

Jayden Bergman-Sophomore (6' | PG) - Central Valley Christian Cavaliers (Visalia)

Season averages per game: 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2 steals

Tri-County - Kings Canyon League Most Valuable Player

Bergman led the Cavs to undefeated league record and title, the #2 seed in the D3 Section playoffs, and a spot in the D3 title game before coming up short. Bergman has a smooth jumper, has the handles and court vision to make good decision with the ball to find open teammates, as well as the moves to create his own scoring opportunities, is a good off-ball defender that deflects passes and jumps passing lanes, and will lead CVC next year as the front-runner to win its league again with all of its core players returning.

[player_tooltip player_id='2920237' first='Shea' last='Buckley']-Senior (6'1 | CG) - Atascadero Greyhounds

Season averages per game: 22 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 3 steals

1st Team All-Mountain League

Buckley has been the driving force for the Greyhounds the past two seasons, averaging 20+ points per game, with one of the purest jumpers in the Section, with accuracy from the mid-range to the 3-point line off the bounce or the catch. Buckley helped Atascadero, as a base D3 program, earn the top seed in the D2 Section playoffs, which helped it get to the Section title game. Despite the loss to Clovis in the D2 Championship game, Buckley did his part and was named runner-up Player of the Game.

Gavin Christian-Senior (6'5 | WF) - South Bakersfield Spartans

Season averages per game: 17.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.6 steals

South Yosemite Mountain League Most Valuable Player (back to back MVPs)

Christian had an outstanding season this year and lived up to his personal expectations, as well as some team goals. Christian led the Spartans to an undefeated league record and outright SYML title, sweeping its league rival North Bakersfield. Christian has the moves to score in the post, the shot-making to space the floor with the 3-ball, and is a beast on the boards on both ends of the court. He and the other seniors will be missed next year, as South could be in rebuild mode.

Ja'Vance Coleman Jr.-Senior (6'3 | PG) - Bullard Knights (Fresno)

Season averages per game: 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals

1st Team All-County/Metro 1 League

Coleman has been a staple for the Knights since his freshman year, and, in a time where players move more than ever before, he stayed at Bullard all four years, despite several seniors departing from the school before the school year started. Coleman has been one of the top lead guards in the Section for the last four years, is an elite play-maker with great court vision and precision passing to find open teammates, the moves to create his own offense, has become a reliable threat from beyond the arc, and showed great leadership skills as the core player on a young roster.

[player_tooltip player_id='2977779' first='Elias' last='Gish']-Senior (6'7 | WG) - Clovis North Broncos (Fresno)

Season averages per game: 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block

1st Team All-Tri-River Athletic Conference

Gish finished his high school career with an impressive senior campaign, showing off his versatility and skill-set, as he played the 5 spot for the Broncos all season, which highlighted his post moves and interior skills, as well as his ability to create off the wing to get to his shot spots, with length and agility to score over most perimeter defenders. Gish is a solid perimeter defender with quick hands, long wingspan, and good instincts to jump passing lanes, deflect entry passes, and hold up against bigger players in the paint.

Landon Haynes-Senior (6'2 | PG) - Porterville Panthers

Season averages per game: 18.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 2 steals

East Yosemite League Most Valuable Player

Haynes has been one of the best kept secrets in the Section the last few seasons, hidden away at Porterville High School, but those that know, understand his skill set and elite lead guard play will translate well at the next level. Haynes led his team to a 9-1 record in EYL play, which was good for outright league champs. Haynes keeps the ball on a string, surveys the floor for the right play, has the moves to get to his shot spots, and has a fluid jumper with accuracy from the mid-range to the 3-point line. Instincts and active hands on defense to poke the ball out or jump passing lanes. Not much he can't do with the ball in his hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='3566465' first='Jace' last='Kellogg']-Senior (6' | PG) - Clovis West Golden Eagles (Fresno)

Season averages per game: 24.4 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals

1st Team All-Tri-River Athletic Conference

Kellogg had an outstanding senior campaign for the Golden Eagles, as he had a similar role with Clovis West that Ja'Vance Coleman Jr. had with Bullard, as he had to lead a young roster and he stayed at Clovis West all 4 years despite two coaching changes in his time at CW. Kellogg put up some impressive numbers this season, capped off by setting a single game scoring record for the historic program, dropping 52 points, surpassing program legend Cole Anderson, in the Clovis Elks Tournament. Kellogg has dynamic handles, elite on-court speed, scores it from 3-levels, and is a high-level defender that turns defense to offense routinely.

Jensen Hirschkorn-Senior (6'7 | WF) - Kingsburg Vikings

Season averages per game: 19 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks

1st-Team All-Tri-County - Kings Canyon League and Offensive Player of the Year

The MLB pitching prospect was one of the most dominant players in the Section this season, as he helped the Vikings get to the semifinals of the D3 Section playoffs. Hirschkorn finished his high school basketball career as Kingsburg's all-time leader in rebounds, blocks, and steals, and is second in all-time scoring. He has great post-moves, strength to score through contact at the basket, the court vision to make plays from the top of the key, and can spread the floor with the 3-ball. He will be missed by Viking fans and expect to see him in the big leagues in the next few years.

Brayden Stevenson-Senior (5'9 | PG) - Tulare Union Tribe

Season averages per game: 18 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2 steals

West Yosemite League Most Valuable Player

Stevenson had an outstanding senior season and had some major individual and team successes to cap off a great high school career. Stevenson led the Tribe to a WSL title, a 3-way tie, a Division 3 Section Championship, and a run to the D4 State final four spot. Stevenson became the program's all-time leading scorer this year and earned another League MVP award. The athletic and physical lead guard is an elite defender, can score in volume, and is a natural leader on the court. He will take his talents to the next level on the football field, but his name is etched in Tulare Union basketball history.

Braylen Smith-Sophomore (6'1 | CG) - Bakersfield Christian Eagles

Season averages per game: 11 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2 steals

1st Team All-South Yosemite Valley League

Smith had his breakout season this year and was a key piece of the Eagle's team that made it to the D1 Section semifinals, as well as the State D2 Title game Smith has emerged as a true lead guard that can create his own offense, as well as make plays for teammates. Smith has elite handles, shifty moves, scores it from 3-levels, and earned his first D1 offer from CSU Bakersfield this year, and will be the top perimeter scorer for the Eagles going into next season.

Josiah Wilson-Sophomore (6'2 | CG) - Justin Garza Guardians (Fresno)

Season averages per game: 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game

County/Metro 2 League co-Most Valuable Player

Wilson put the Section on notice this season, as he led the Guardians to one of its most successful seasons in its short program history. Wilson helped his team win the CMAC 2 league title, shared with Hoover of Fresno, a top four seed in the D3 Section playoffs (a base D4 school), and some big scoring outputs this season to highlight his skill set. Wilson is an elite athlete that uses his bounce, active hands, and agility to be a high-level perimeter defender, able to contest shots in the open court, and has the handles and moves to create his own shots off the dibble, as well as make plays to find open teammates.
