On Sunday April 13th I attended the 3Stripes Gold West Session 1 at West Point HS in Avondale. I watched many Arizona teams but also viewed teams from Alaska, Oregon, Montana, California.

Here were the Top Shooters Viewed

Donte. Williams SG/W 6'3 2029 Billings Skyview/MT (Crafted MT 16) (Pictured)

One of the top shooters on the team in any class I viewed is a taller guard/wing from the freshmen class playing up from Montana. He squares up like you should and has the same release over and over with a quicker trigger. He will also rebound and has natural upside and confidence.

[player_tooltip player_id='2775805' first='Max' last='McClain'] Casteel ([program_tooltip program_id='2206843' first='Phoenix' last='Runnin' Rebels'] 16)

A newcomer for me is a highly skilled combo guard who can play on or off the ball. He takes care of the ball but he is a shooter. He will rattle them in from mid to the three point line and he is deceptively quick to get a step on his defender to the basket. He can have a nice role in varsity next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2949118' first='Jayden' last='Hollie'] Deer Valley ([program_tooltip program_id='2265774' first='UH' last='Elite 3 Stripe'] 15)

One of the best shooters in the freshmen class locally makes it look easy. He has a pure stroke from the three point line with a repeated release. He also has a nice mid-range pull-up off the dribble as he can create a little separation to get his shot off. His length on defense is obvious and plays the right way.

[player_tooltip player_id='2683087' first='Chris' last='Monroe'] Willow Canyon (United Skills Academy 16)

A long and lean wing forward who can hit the three point shot off the catch with a nice looking release and stroke. He gets it off quickly but he will also dribble drive to the basket and get into the paint with a polished runner or score with layups.

[player_tooltip player_id='3588653' first='Micah' last='Johnson'] Willow Canyon (United Skills Academy 15)

A newcomer for me is a freshmen scoring guard who is a catch and shoot type from the three point line. He will rattle them in one by one with a quicker trigger and gets squared to the basket plus has quick shot preparation. He also smartly moves without the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='3588856' first='Shawn' last='Randle'] Valley Vista (United Skills Academy 17)

Another newcomer for me is a long and very lean scoring guard. The newcomer is a smooth guard who comes with a nice looking stroke from the three point line but has real elusiveness to get a step on his defender to the basket. With a big senior class graduating, he should get some heavy PT.

[player_tooltip player_id='2109038' first='Nate' last='Tainsky'] Hamilton (AZ Gremlins 17)

A scoring guard with some ball skills and feel for the game. He will ball fake and get downhill with his left or right hand and rebound well for the undersized team. He plays the passing lanes to collect steals but he is a shooter with range and a fast trigger.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146266' first='Douglas' last='Sweatt'] Mesa (AZ Gremlins 17)

A scoring point guard can hit the open three and will burst into the teeth of the defense and score thru the contact and likes the mid-range pull-up. He advanced passes and plays off of the pick and roll game perfectly. He is also a plus rebounder despite his size and is tough on the ball defensively.
