At the beginning of December we had 65 players to rank for the 2029 class and now we are at 195 players.

131 players are new and some have moved to different states, focused on different sports, and went into the 2028 or 2030 class.

Of the 131 new players, 3 fell in the top-25, 12 fell in the top-50 and 52 were placed in the top-100. The other 79 fell in the top-195.

Thus obviously means that some dropped in the rankings but there are some, who based off their strong freshmen campaigns, rose in the rankings.

Our goal at PrepHoopsAZ is to try and recognize anyone who may play college basketball. We will keep searching for new players in preseason camps/events/leagues/Prep Hoops Circuit, AOG AZ High Academic Camp, Arizona Top-250 EXPO, my personal Southwest Basketball Camp and during the AIA/CAA/OTE/NIBC/EIBC/Grind Session seasons.

1. I can personally see some of the top players at the top become nationally ranked with [player_tooltip player_id='2639549' first='Mamadou' last='Issa Sow'], [player_tooltip player_id='2759176' first='Trevin' last='Davis'], [player_tooltip player_id='2194805' first='Marquice' last='Pless'], [player_tooltip player_id='2767903' first='Jacobi' last='Thompson II'], [player_tooltip player_id='2194474' first='Isaiah' last='Rider IV'], [player_tooltip player_id='2574808' first='Ruach' last='Gony'] [player_tooltip player_id='2759167' first='Taylan' last='Owens'], [player_tooltip player_id='2533594' first='CJ' last='Johnson'], [player_tooltip player_id='2251690' first='Innocent' last='Onwo'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2855988' first='Jose' last='Dias'] plus others.

2. The 30th ranked player with [player_tooltip player_id='3460591' first='Corey' last='Roberts'] already earned a D2 scholarship showing this class's early depth.

3. Rankings are based on a lot of things. Production, size for position, college coaches, the eye test, ability to score and defend, instincts, IQ, how a player moves, speed, ball handling, shooting, fundamentals. length and possible upside. It is not the easiest thing to do since not all players play in the same leagues for AAU and HS. They can be in the CAA, Grind Session, EIBC, OTE and the AIA obviously has different levels. Plus AAU teams may play on National Circuits (3SSB, UAA, EYBL or Pro16 Puma) or play on independent or up and coming circuits (Pangos, NxtPro, EYCL, UAA Rise, Prep Hoops, WCE, New Balance, The Stage and so on). So you put all that information together and create the rankings.

4. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE WHERE I HAVE YOU, that is good. This is just a starting spot! These rankings will change a lot in the next 3 years. Get better, get stronger, earn minutes on varsity. If you do not play varsity, there is a cap of how high I can place you until you do and actually produce!

5. If you are playing prep ball, make sure you are seen enough since some of the teams (who are not on EYBL) do not get seen as much as the top AIA or EYBL teams do.

6. If you are play in a small AIA school, make sure you play high level club basketball to get SEEN. There is so much scouts can do to tell a college coach about players. You need to get your name out there and be SEEN.

7. Players who are crushing it on varsity obviously get noticed first but some are the later bloomers or are on a loaded varsity and they only play JV.

8. If you are in the top-100 in Arizona now---you are probably pretty good! If you are not in the top-100 or where you want to be--keep working!!

9. Just because you are currently ranked high, it does not mean you will stay at the top for 4 years. If you never grow or improve your game, the players behind you will pass you up. It is pretty simple.

10. Some tips: If you are a sub 6'0 PG, you better be the most skilled, athletic or quickest kid on the floor with range or incredible passing skills. If you are a sub 6'3 SG, you better be extremely athletic, with length and deep range on your 3 with a pull-up. If you are a sub 6'6 SF or sub 6'7 PF or sub 6'9 C, the same applies. You have to outwork your opponents, have more skill, more desire to want to get better and put in the time.

11. Another tip: Always compare your rankings with your group-not the overall list. If you are a center, you don't look at the PG list of course, compare yourself with the other centers.

12. Of the 195 players we have 62 PG's, 24 SG's, 33 CG's, 42 SF's, 28 PF's and 6 C's.
