2028-2029 Standouts from Fortuna’s Hoops Combine and Showcase

The 2028 and 2029 classes were well represented at my Combine and Showcase. Several prospects flashed intriguing tools, athleticism, and long-term upside.    [player_tooltip player_id='2374929' first='Terrance' last='Edmond'] (pictured) certainly turned heads on Saturday. The Basic big man was a legit scoring threat out there, and he threw down one of the best dunks of the day (if not the best). He also had other strong drives to the rack and finished through contact. As a defender, Edmond was disruptive and collected boards. After a day like that, his stock is definitely up, and you can tell he's been in the lab.   - Selected to the All Star Game - Has a 77 inch wingspan     [player_tooltip player_id='2423332' first='Mekhi' last='Carter'] carved it up as a floor general at the Combine and Showcase. He keeps his head up when he has the rock and will throw it ahead if a teammate is open. He can also get downhill and kick it out or drop it off from there. Beyond his passing skills, he got into the paint and scored. Carter also wasn't easy to get around on defense, as he stayed active with his hands. All in all, he played the right way, and other coaches besides me took notice.   - Selected to the All Star Game - Has a 74 inch wingspan     [player_tooltip player_id='3199607' first='Jaxson' last='Grant'] is another forward who commanded attention at the Combine and Showcase. He hits holes almost like a fullback, and defenders made business decisions a couple of times to avoid him. He also has a jump shot that he can go to, and he has good scoring instincts. Grant also posed a problem for guys on defense, where he clogged up the paint and didn't make it easy to finish near the basket. His physicality and presence were felt throughout the day, making him a tough matchup on both ends of the floor.   - Selected to All Star game - Has 77 Inch Wingspan     [player_tooltip player_id='2960924' first='Kairey' last='Sampaio'] is an elite athlete for a freshman. He has springy legs and can jump out of the gym. He uses that explosiveness to drive by his matchup and score. Although he was one of the younger prospects there, he still found success on the offensive end, scoring a personal high of 8 points. I also like how he competes with intensity and plays to win. He should have a big sophomore season around the corner.   - Selected to All Star game - Has a 75 inch wingspan     [player_tooltip player_id='2819205' first='Graceson' last='Snow'] is a two-way guard who makes an impact with his IQ, athleticism, and poise. He has a good feel for the game and makes smart reads when he has the rock. He's notably unselfish and willing to make the extra pass. His +4 wingspan difference was evident as well, as he can cover ground faster than opponents anticipate on defense. When it came time for All-Star selections, he had a few coaches throw his name in the ring, thanks to his strong play during the round robin games and the skills portion.   - Selected to All Star game - Has a 76 inch wingspan     [player_tooltip player_id='3243842' first='Santino' last='Randleman'] was one of the few 2029s at the event, and I thought he held his own in the paint. He's tall, has a good frame, and is fairly aggressive on both offense and defense. On offense, he's a great option to feed on the block, and he has a a mid-range game he can go to. On defense, he utilizes his 77-inch wingspan to alter and block shots. Considering his size and skill, he's a prospect that will likely draw college attention as he continues to develop.   - Selected to All Star Game
