Southern California — There were multiple club and individual showcase events in Southern California over the weekend as players and programs shift their focus from the high school season to the club season. We were able to hit three events - NXTPro in Seal Beach, the Pangos All-American Preview in Long Beach and the BattleZone at Orange Lutheran high school. We break down the top upperclass wings we watched.

[player_tooltip player_id='3520098' first='Bryce' last='Shamburger'] | 2028 | Team CPSA 16u

The biggest thing that stood out about Shamburger was how he played every possession with a high motor and physicality. The 6-foot-5 wing was one of SoCal's top freshmen at Malibu high school and was active on the offensive and defense glass in his first appearance for Team CPSA. Offensively, Shamburger was effective in transition slashing situations with his combination of length, long strides and aggressive downhill attack mentality.

Chris Davis | 2028 | Cali Gold 16u 3SSB

Davis is going to be one of the fastest-rising prospects in California over the next two seasons if he continues to improve at the rate he has over the last five months. The wiry 6-foot-6 wing already has one of the more fluid and mechanically-sound off-catch shots that we've seen in the 2028 class and he showed over the weekend that he's improving as a ball handler and finisher around the rim. Davis capped his weekend with a big dunk and intriguing defensive potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='2948298' first='Isaiah' last='Williamson'] | 2028 | Compton Magic 16u 3SSB

Williamson is always a fun player to watch in the aau/club setting because his game is designed for a slower, more structured environment, but his fundamentals and basketball IQ translate to any setting. The 6-foot-4 lefty is such a crafty scorer and decision-maker in the paint where his cool, calm and collected demeanor lead to his elite vision and passing ability. Williamson is a point-forward type of player who scores 15-feet and in.

[player_tooltip player_id='2948288' first='Jakobi' last='Oware'] | 2028 | Team CPSA 17u

Oware has a chance to be one of the west coasts biggest stock-risers this summer due to his combination of size, length, athleticism and perimeter scoring ability. The wiry 6-foot-6 wing shoots a clean jumper with a high release, tight rotation and the ability to hit off the catch and off the bounce. Oware showed a tighter handle on the ball which led to more effective space creation to get his shot off and more confidence attacking the rim in the half-court setting.

Javon Bardwell | 2028 | Compton Magic 17u 3SSB

Bardwell was probably the top pure basketball athlete that I watched on the weekend. His first and second jumps were quick and explosive, his ability to change direction was fluid without losing speed and his confidence in attacking the rim made him one of the best slashers and finishers in transition. Bardwell was impossible to keep out of the lane in half-court offense with his combination of ball skills, shiftiness and ability to cover ground with minimal dribbles.

[player_tooltip player_id='2336388' first='Josh' last='Agbo'] | 2028 | Dream Vision 16u 3SSB

Agbo continued to show promise as a physical slashing and finishing wing in the open court and half-court settings. The 6-foot-4 sophomore took a major leap with Corona Centennial this season and was one of the Huskies' most effective two-way players with his combination of size, length and athleticism. Agbo's biggest improvement - which was on full display over the weekend - is the consistency of his off-catch three-point shot.

[player_tooltip player_id='2746607' first='Josh' last='Lowery'] | 2028 | Compton Magic 17u 3SSB

Lowery is a seasoned veteran on the 17u level despite being a 2028 prospect as he played most of last spring and summer on the top Compton Magic team and his experience showed in his confidence. The 6-foot-5 sophomore - who is coming off of CIF Southern Section and State Open Division titles with Sierra Canyon - was hyper aggressive on the offensive end and got to the rim - and scored - whenever he wanted. Lowery has a dynamic first step and a burst of speed on the second level that allows him to blow by his defenders for paint touches.
