As the Indiana High School Basketball season comes to a close we will put a bow on it all with a ton of coverage. Obviously, we still have the IHSAA State Finals to look forward to on Saturday. However, aside from that, we will be releasing our All-State Teams, Player of the Year, Class-by-Class Top Performers, and much more. In this series we want to hire some of the top stock-risers in each class. Here are some of the freshman in the state of Indiana that improved their stock the most throughout the 2025-22026 season.

This is a prospect that I have admittedly not been able to see much in person yet. However, Calvin immediately solidified himself as one of the top prospects, regardless of class, in the Evansville area, this season. The 6'5" forward was named First Team All-SIAC after averaging 14.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. His length and non-stop motor around the basket allows him to dominate the paint while continue to show flashes of his perimeter abilities as well. Colvin is absolutely one of the top freshmen in the state of Indiana.

One of a handful of talented freshmen that made instant impacts for East Chicago Central this season, Gillis averaged 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. The lightning quick 5'10" point guard was a big part of the Cardinals' postseason run that took them all of the way to the Class 3A North Semi-State.

Already known as one of the top young big men in Indiana's Class of 2029, Johnson continued to get better and better as the season went along. Ultimately, the 6'7" center was a big part of Delta making a fourth straight trip to the Class 3A North Semi-State. Johnson averaged 8.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game for the Eagles. He is one of the top freshman prospects in the state.

It is one thing to be a freshman putting up some big numbers against the best of the best in The Region. However, when it actually translates to winning, it becomes even more impressive. Meux, one of a few talented freshmen for East Chicago Central, averaged 10.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while helping lead the Cardinals to the Class 3A North Semi-State. He is a good shooter, but even more dangerous as a downhill driver.

An under-the-radar forward from Hebron High School, this 6'3" freshman wasted no time making a big impact at the varsity level. Peeler was one of the top freshman rebounders in the state this season averaging 6.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. His willingness to crash the glass on both ends of the floor, paired with some fluid athleticism, makes him a good interior piece. Look for him to continue to emerge as one of the top young, small school forwards in the northern part of the state.

Russell had a breakout game just after Christmas scoring 46 points and making a school-record 12 three-point shots. He went on to have several 20+ and 30+ point scoring outputs throughout his freshman season. The 5'11" sharp-shooter is one of the best pure scorers in Indiana's Class of 2029. We look forward to getting to watch him more this spring and summer to get a feel for where he stacks up in the class as a whole.

It takes a lot to break into the varsity lineup as a freshman at a place like Westfield. However, Wilson continued to earn minutes and made some big play throughout the season for the Shamrocks. The 6'0" shot-making guard averaged 4.8 points per game and shot 16-46 (34.8%) from three-point range. Wilson gets great elevation on his jump shots and projects as a high-level perimeter scorer.
