The spring and summer travel season approaches. The class of 2027 continues to emerge as one of the deeper guard groups in Virginia. Several young floor generals have shown they can control games. They create offense for others. They impact winning in multiple ways. These guards not only score the ball when needed. Their vision and pace are crucial. They have the ability to elevate the play of the teammates around them.

Here are three playmakers in the 2027 class that college coaches should have on their radar this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2624544' first='Chris' last='Lamm'] has quickly established himself as one of the top playmaking guards in Virginia regardless of class. The Benedictine floor general plays with tremendous pace. He has an excellent feel for the game. He consistently makes the right reads and keeps his team organized on the offensive end.

What stands out most about Lamm is his ability to get downhill and collapse defenses. Once he gets into the paint, he excels at finding teammates. He hits shooters on the perimeter, rewards cutters on backdoor actions, or creates easy looks out of pick-and-roll situations. His court vision and decision-making make him a true facilitator who raises the level of play of everyone around him.

While his passing ability is elite, Lamm is also a capable scorer. He can finish around the rim. He also knocks down perimeter shots when defenses give him space. His basketball IQ is exceptional for a player his age. His poise with the ball makes him a natural leader at the point guard position.

Expect Lamm to have a major spring and summer with [program_tooltip program_id='3424568' first='Team' last='Loaded Gold'] on the travel circuit. His playmaking ability should continue to attract attention. College programs are looking for a high-IQ lead guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='2931604' first='Isaiah' last='Elkins'] had a strong season for Hanover. He showed that he is one of the more reliable guards in the region. Playing alongside talented teammate Joel Nicholson, Elkins consistently showed his ability to manage the game. He created opportunities for those around him.

Elkins is a high-IQ guard who understands pace, spacing, and timing. He excels at finding his spots on the floor. His shooting ability keeps defenders honest. He can stretch the defense from the perimeter. This ability opens up driving lanes. It allows him to create for teammates once defenses begin to overcommit.

He has an exceptional ability to read the floor. He makes quick decisions that make him a dangerous playmaker in both half-court and transition situations. He keeps the ball moving. He finds the open man. He plays with a level of composure that is uncommon for a player in the 2027 class.

This summer, Elkins will suit up with Team Richmond alongside talented players such as Bodi Corley and Nolan Anthony. He will have shooters and size around him. He should have plenty of opportunities to showcase his ability as a primary creator. He will also excel as a floor general. Expect him to be a name that continues to gain traction on the recruiting trail.

Few players in the Richmond area saw their stock rise as much this past season as Godwin guard [player_tooltip player_id='3275793' first='Obi' last='Pinn']. Known for his scoring ability, Pinn proved he can do far more than just put the ball in the basket. He demonstrated he can also facilitate and create for others at a high level.

Pinn had multiple games this season where he finished with six or more assists. This demonstrates his growth as a playmaker. It also shows his willingness to make the extra pass. His ability to attack off the dribble and draw help defenders creates open opportunities for teammates.

Another area where Pinn makes a major impact is on the defensive end. He is a strong on-ball defender who plays with great energy and instincts. His defense often sparks transition opportunities, where he excels at pushing the tempo and finding teammates for easy baskets.

This summer with [program_tooltip program_id='3424568' first='Team' last='Loaded Gold'], Pinn will be surrounded by high-level talent. This environment should allow him to showcase his versatility further. He can excel as both a scorer and playmaker. He is an intriguing prospect because he can defend effectively. He also creates offense and plays with pace. College coaches should continue monitoring him closely.

As the spring and summer travel season approaches, these guards will have many chances to display their talents. They will do so on the grassroots circuit. [player_tooltip player_id='2624544' first='Chris' last='Lamm'], [player_tooltip player_id='2931604' first='Isaiah' last='Elkins'], and [player_tooltip player_id='3275793' first='Obi' last='Pinn'] have an exceptional combination of vision, scoring ability, and feel for the game. College coaches should make it a priority to evaluate these three playmakers. Expect all three to continue building momentum. They will compete against top competition and prove why they are among the most intriguing guards in Virginia's 2027 class.
