The leading scorer on a evenly-balanced squad that spread the wealth on the stat sheet this season, [player_tooltip player_id='3255100' first='Kamden' last='Bork'] put the game on his shoulders in a strong effort to lead his team to the 1A state championship game, falling just short.

Determined to get to the rim throughout the Royals' matchup with Marquette Catholic, Bork finished the contest with 20 points, adding nine boards. A skilled, big guard/wing, Bork's ability to put the ball on the floor and muscle up shots at the rim made him a difficult guard for opponents all season.

The lone returning starter from last year's team that reached the 1A finals, [player_tooltip player_id='2906540' first='Louis' last='Gonner'] is playing some of the best ball of his career when it matters most. A composed point guard that comes up clutch when his team needs it, Gonner is everything that Marquette Catholic needed to return to the title game for the third year in a row.

Matching up with a bigger, stronger, faster MMCRU squad that forced turnovers and posted just one loss this winter, Gonner made the smart play, taking what their defense gave him and not letting the suffocating MMCRU pressure get to him throughout the game. He led the Defenders in scoring with XX points, adding three rebounds and three assists.

The star for Fort Dodge St. Edmond, [player_tooltip player_id='1907683' first='Hunter' last='Horn'] was on a mission all day, putting together a stellar performance in the Gaels' run to the state championship game. Scoring with ease -- other than when he was sent to the bench in the first half with two early fouls -- Horn was a major reason why the Gaels dominated much of the game against Burlington Notre Dame. Playing in a manor that felt like he was a near-automatic bucket every time he touched the rock, Horn went 8-of-14 from the field and 11-of-14 from three to lead the scoring effort on behalf of the Gaels, putting up 27 points. He added 11 boards for a double-double, looking like the All-State caliber scorer he is, and potentially priming St. Edmond for another state title under Adolph Kochendorfer in his final year of serving as the head coach for the Gaels.

Horn wasn't the only star for St. Edmond in their semi-final win. Fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id='2887801' first='Jakob' last='Koopman'] did anything and everything for the Gaels, especially on the defensive end. Tasked with guarding one of the best point guards in the state, Shay Stephens, Koopman held the Western Illinois signee to 18 points on just 5-of-19 shooting from the floor and going 0-for-6 from three.

On offense, Koopman added ten points and ten rebounds in the semifinals victory. While Koopman has certainly helped on the offensive side of the ball this season, his matchup with Stephens may have been what got the Gaels over the top and into the championship game.

One of the leaders of the Marquette Catholic squad as they look to get over the hump and win the program's first-ever state title, [player_tooltip player_id='3554354' first='Koen' last='Roeder'] is a versatile wing that can attack off-the-dribble, shoot the three and play defense. The type of player any program in 1A would love to have, Roeder does so many different things for the Defenders, and he could find a way to fit on any team and make them better.

Though Gonner is and has been the hero for Marquette Catholic to this point in the tournament, Roeder's play on both ends of the floor has been critical in their efforts to reach the championship game. He finished with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting, adding two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
