Quarterfinal Scorers Shine at The Pit

The quarterfinal round of the state championships at The Pit featured several standout individual performances. A number of players stepped up offensively and delivered efficient scoring nights to help push their teams into the next round, while others battled hard and kept their teams competitive. Here is a look at some of the top scoring performances from the quarterfinals.    [player_tooltip player_id='1326930' first='Remy' last='Albrecht'] played a crucial role in helping his team avoid an upset against Carlsbad in one of the closest games of the quarterfinals. Albrecht finished with 20 points and was extremely efficient, particularly inside the arc. He was a perfect 7 for 7 on his two point field goal attempts and finished the game 8 for 12 overall from the field. Albrecht also added 3 free throws on 4 attempts. His ability to convert scoring opportunities at a high rate helped his team secure the narrow one point victory and move on to the next round.     [player_tooltip player_id='2111977' first='David' last='Lunn'] put together a strong and well rounded performance in Volcano Vista's win over Las Cruces. Lunn finished with 23 points while shooting 10 for 18 from the field, consistently finding ways to score throughout the game. He was also effective at the free throw line, knocking down 3 of his 4 attempts. In addition to his scoring, Lunn made his presence felt on the defensive end by creating opportunities for his team to get out and run. Smith also got to the free throw line and converted 4 of his 6 attempts. His scoring helped Sandia maintain momentum offensively and provided a steady presence in one of the biggest wins of the quarterfinal round. Harris finished with 17 points while shooting an efficient 5 for 7 from the field. He controlled the paint offensively and used his size and presence to finish around the basket. Despite the loss, [player_tooltip player_id='2839414' first='Dashon' last='Bynum'] turned in a strong scoring performance for Rio Rancho. Bynum finished with 17 points and remained one of the primary offensive threats for his team throughout the game. He shot 7 for 14 from the field and showed his ability to score from the perimeter by knocking down 3 of his 5 attempts from beyond the arc. Bynum's shot making and effort helped keep Rio Rancho within reach for much of the contest as he continued to battle and look for scoring opportunities.
